Is it better for the Bluetooth version or to pay more for the wifi? I'd be using it for the basement where I need to run a dehumidifier constantly as the humidity level gets up to almost 70/ 80% if not. Looking to have access and alerts 24/7 in case I'm not home and our dehumidifier is not working as it seems dehumidifiers are not made to last long. Didn't realize my last one went out until I went in the basement and discovered mold growth.
I have about 10 of these throughout my house and I use Home Assistant [home-assistant.io]with a Bluetooth dongle. You could use Home Assistant with a smart plug to turn on the dehumidifier when the humidity is too high.
See the attached graph from home assistant of my basement using this device.

That is very interesting, so if I am running HA from a machine which has in-built BT 4.x then I will be able to use this BT based Hygrometer; in that scenario (like the one you have setup) does alert comes only after manually clicking the HA dashboard or does it sends alert to your mobile without user interaction?
you can configure the alert to do anything; alert mobile, send email, turn on a smart plug or light

So if I'm understanding this correctly, if you use Home Assistant and a smart plug, I can make a Bluetooth version to act like the more expensive wifi version? Looking to get alerts 24/7 without having to sign into an app for it to notify me of my humidity levels which it appears can be done if using a hub like Home Assistant. Appreciate the info!

Completely serious question, can I put one in a fridge and freezer? I travel a lot and I need to know if temperature goes up in case of power failure.

Have them in my humidors and yes, they're pretty accurate.

I have these sensors in all the fridges/freezers in my house for when my kids inadvertently dont close the doors all the way, the alerts push right to my phone within a few seconds of getting a high temp reading. I could also set up an alert to blast 'close the fridge door' over the alexas in the house if i were particularly militant about it lol

This version only goes to -4F so depending on the freezer setpoints youre working with the reading might bottom out. but i have these in several fridges and they work great. I personally like the H5074 design better for freezers, its smaller and runs off a button cell for a really long time.

Exactly what I do, my dehumidifier in basement's automatic on/off broke. I use one of these to track humidity and a tplink switch to turn the humidifier on with home assistant (and Bluetooth dongle)

Shouldn't the white color be priced lower than black? It is hard to see with everything in white.

Have you looked into getting the GoveeLife Smart Dehumidifier? I have one for my basement and it drains into the condensation line. It turns on and off to maintain a target humidity. It's connected to wifi so you can monitor the humidity / temperature from anywhere. It also shows graphs and history of the humidity levels. I really like mine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BR7RHQB9

Are there any such things, that don't require having an account, connecting to some app, hopefully open-source, and communicating the data though the standard protocol?
