I wouldn't buy this from Amazon. It's also on sale at a bunch of great specialty music gear retailers that I'd rather support, like:

Perfect Circuit (often can get 10% off, maybe not this because it's on sale already)
https://www.perfectcircuit.com/un...orion.html

Chicago Music Exchange https://www.chicagomusicexchange....al-1823502

Vintage King https://vintageking.com/universal...echo-pedal

American Musical Supply https://www.americanmusical.com/u.../UAD-ORION

Zzounds https://www.zzounds.com/item--UADORION

Alto Music https://www.altomusic.com/product...al-gps-orn

Pitbull Audio https://www.pitbullaudio.com/univ...pedal.html

(not as great a retailer but) ProAudioStar https://www.proaudiostar.com/univ...orion.html
plus, Sweetwater, B&H, and probably more.

Also note the Evermore Reverb (hall) and Heavenly Reverb (plate) are also on sale for $99 at these retailers. (Both pedals' algorithms are featured on the UAFX Golden reverb, while the Orion comes from the Starlight pedal).

If he ONLY wants to hear through headphones check out the Fender Mustang Micro. If you'd like the option to also have a speaker in the amp check out the Spark series by Positive Grid.

I concur with @debatewithhate on the Spark amps. The Spark GO is $129 (I've seen for $99) and has a headphone jack but also sounds great as a practice amp and has a ton of features if guitar ends up being a hobby he sticks with. No need for individual pedals like this because every setting a beginner needs is in the app. Can't go wrong.

Advice for for my teenage son? Neighbor gave him a really cheap electric guitar and he just wants to hear it through his headphones.

Yeah, I'd recommend the Spark Mini over the Mustang. It's loud, portable, and has a huge community behind it, and has outputs for headphones + PC.

This is one of the best Echoplex pedals out there. The only reason I don't have it on my board is the fact you can't turn the preamp off with a separate button- it's a switch on the back of the pedal. MXR's Echoplex has a separate preamp pedal and an echo pedal that does this job very well.

Highly recommend the TONEX One pedal. Really good amp/cab emulation that he can play around with (lots of options there!) and can plug his headphones directly into the pedal. I think it's about $150?

I've turned the cab emulation off and plugged the pedal into a cab, with the custom amp, and it sounds really good live. So this is a nice solution in that it can be used for more than just the problem you're solving.

Get the tonex. Sounds great. Many sound choices.

I bought the Flammas FX10 and that's been a fantastic practice tool for me.
