Looks like it's close to a mobile RTX 3050, maybe slightly better. fwiw, Google spits out the 3060 as the equivalent, but the 3060 seems to come out on top in every comparison I came across. So somewhere between a 3050 and 3060.

To be more specific, the original 3050 with 4GB VRAM. The newer 3050 with 6GB VRAM is better than the 6550M this has.

To be safe, let's say it's equivalent to the 3050Ti Mobile

For the price, this is a very solid machine. Obviously going to want to throw some more RAM in there, but that's a pretty cheap and easy thing to do.

It's 30% better than a GTX 1650 mobile…. Not saying we are seeing those anymore thankfully but last year you would be hard pressed to find a gaming laptop around 500$ that didn't have one of those.

This is kinda meh. As some people have said, we have seen RTX 3050 hit around this price point before at times and it's a better GPU. It also gets you RTX 3000 series which gives you CUDA cores which is great for other applications. I just know there's some LLM ai tools now that will not work with Radeon STILL….

The other thing. I've used a couple HP gaming laptops in the last couple years and I wasn't impressed with them… but maybe the victus is different than the "HP Gaming" version

Victus basically used to be Pavilion Gaming. Build quality hasn't changed much I agree

I bought this laptop when the last SD posted was $499. I was able to get the difference refunded ~$20 now that it dropped. Just need to contact Best Buy support.

This laptop is pretty decent for the price. Build quality is solid and isn't ugly for a gaming laptop. Thermals blow out to the back of the laptop as opposed to the side and didnt notice a lot of heat when gaming. I didn't benchmark AAA games, but here are a few that I tried on latest drivers:

Counter-Strike 2: ~70fps on high (suprisingly, the FPS gets worse the lower the graphics quality. This is still dissappointingly low)
Fortnite: 80fps on high (stuttering is a problem)
Valorant: ~180fps (suprisingly very good)

One I know is that Walmart one has the 4th Gen architecture vs the 3rd Gen on this one.

64GB is the theoretical max, but I only put 16gb in my parents, just added a 8gb stick.
