Not really, it's a decent card, a quick good search tells me it performs on par with a 2060 mobile or the 3050, which at this price point is actually great.

You get what you pay for. If you're gonna buy new better off spending a little more for the victus with the rtx 4060 for $599.

Try to get the 3050 6G instead of this one. The 6550M's 4GB of VRAM will likely make future big titles unplayable. (We already have God of War 2024 unplayable on a 4GB card today)

Yeah it is. For the money this is a good deal. I just think it's worth it to spend the extra $120 is all. You know the saying, when you go cheap you end up paying twice lol. Enjoy it. It's a nice starter.

Price is $449 now. Incredible deal for the money. For a new laptop this is best performance you will get for that amount of money. If you need one today and this is your budget, you can't go wrong with this one.

Got an open-box unit at a local Best Buy, the price is great, if I'm being picky, the following are some minor inconveniences:
  • The unit I bought has two pressure marks on the display, which I have trained my eyes and brain to ignore. Replacement panels are available for $60 on eBay and the display bazel is easily removable so I'm fine with this
  • The display is plastic so it wobbles. Not a really big issue if you can tolerate it
  • I bought this machine mainly because I need to do some study on AMD GPUs. The discrete card (6550M) doesn't seem to be able to get captured with Radeon Graphics Profiler but maybe I'm missing something here. That said both cards are great; both are of the RDNA2 architecture and support raytracing and one can do a lot of interesting studies/experiments on them.
  • Adding an extra 8GB or larger memory stick is hugely beneficial for running WSL.
