Adding extra 8GB RAM stick would cost around $25 if find matching pair. Or have replace with 16GB kit for $45. if want 32GB kit $75

everybody looking at this laptop should instead spend the extra money for the Walmart deal. this $430 laptop is a bad deal. the $500 laptop is better

All products come with a 1 year warranty and the 6550M is just slightly better better than a 4GB 3050 so yes the 6550M is a better option than something with a 2050.

Also want to add, hold on to your receipt cause some manufactures will ask you to prove the purchase date. I buy open box items all the time, put them through a stress test first few days if you see no issues the product should be perfectly fine, a defective product will start showing you signs of problems almost immediately.

Not even close, the 4050 is around 50% more powerful than the RX 6550M. That being said the RX 6550M can easily handle almost all of a person older games at lower resolutions. So if your on a very thin budget this would not be a bad laptop at all for someone.

The sweet spot and best deal on a laptop this year was the Asus A16 for around $550 used or $670 new at best buy which came with the 7700 card, hoping for that to come back around very shorty or at least back at the $700 mark for black friday.

Thanks Petey. My best option at this price level is a Victus with 2050 it appears. Would this be better/worse/same in your opinion?

Does Open Box have the same warranty coverage? If so, tempting. Otherwise if it's like microcenter then $30 isn't enough for consideration imo

Would there be a big difference between 16GB vs 32GB? I was planning on getting an extra 8GB for 16GB total, but debating just doing two 16GB for 32GB. However, would the processor/graphics be the limiting factor for performance so I would get diminishing returns from going from 16GB to 32GB?

The open box product description is quite generous:

"This all-in-one gaming powerhouse"

The RX 6550M is an extremely entry level GPU (loses to a 3050), but honestly the open box price is not bad all things considered. You definitely will want to add another stick of RAM to make it dual channel though.

Don't let HP fool you, I got kind of the same laptop few months ago but, had the Ryzen 5-8645hs RTX 4060
It also only came with 8GB of ram and a 512 drive.
Did a scan on Crucial and they stated it can support up to 64GB of ram and 1TB drive.
I installed 64GB of ram and a 4TB drive.
This model maybe different but, I believe HP is hiding this from everyone.
