Unfortunately it kept crashing itself due to the thermal sensor reading "unsafely high temperatures", especially when plugged into the charger. Dell diagnostics ran fine, I contacted support, and after some effort learned I had a 100 day warranty on the refurb.
Currently waiting to hear a replacement has been sent my way as I still need the thing, I've already sent back my original unit. Whole process has delayed me getting a functional laptop by a few weeks already. Just fyi to anyone considering riding the Dell refurb train. Call "Dell Financial Services"/"Dell Refurbished" to initiate a claim. Live chat on their site was for new products and said mine was out of warranty.
*Update: Dell received my return, and apparently had no replacement units, so they just refunded me. Probably not going to bother rolling the dice again.
These are generally good machines, and the are quite generous with their replacement policy. If you call and they don't have the same one in stock, if you ask nicely they often will give you a similar machine with as-good, or better specs.

I'll exchange it.
Additionally, the battery only charged to 86% of the new capacity. I ran it down and fully recharged it to see if that would reset everything. Nope. Only 82% charge now - with claims of just under 6 hrs of battery with the screen brightness turned down. The weight is 2.6 lbs, so a little heavier than my last 13.3 laptop. It definitely feels more substantial.
I installed Linux Mint 22 (an Ubuntu 24.04 variant) and everything "just worked". Didn't have to hunt down any drivers. However, I haven't tested the fingerprint reader. I'm not a fan of people cutting off my finger to gain access to a system anyway. I wouldn't use it if it worked. As with all laptops here, the storage is fully encrypted and tied to a challenge/response + pin yubikey. That worked with a little setup too. Nothing unexpected. All the Fn key controls work without any need to do anything too. To a MS-Windows user, that probably isn't anything people deal with. On Linux with lots of different languages and keyboards, sometimes getting the Fn keys to work takes a bit of trial and error. Not this time.
The SSD power on time was just under 10 months. Guess that's fine. The SSD was some Chinese maker I'd never heard of before. Probably a Dell provider.
No regrets so far. Beautiful system (for my needs) at a great price. Though I didn't want a touchscreen and don't use it, they aren't as bad as I remember. 1920x1080p resolution is a little less than I'd like - I use 1200p normally - but I'm still happy for what it is. No dead pixels, if that is even a thing anymore.
