If I only need this for 4 or 5 months, I'm assuming I can cancel the service early without any weird charges or penalties?
I dont see why not. I would use it for the 6 months and then port out to another providers deal and not have to deal with "canceling".

As in mint being better? Because the quality of their CS has fallen off a cliff big time since they got bought out. IMO no better than any other MVNO at this point.
This is so true. I was using Mint for 4-5 years and the customer service is a shell of its former self. You can't chat. Call waits are very high. And associates frequently tell you they can't do anything and keep ping-ponging you between departments.

Lyca blows and gets deprioritized super hard. 4G service was unusable for me most places and times. Also I wouldn't transfer your number there. But it's wicked cheap if it works for you.

I was merely answering a question posed. You are reading more into it than I intended.

$49 a month is wayyyy too much nowadays. BYOD plans can be had for like $25 or less for 30gb (boost, mint, redpocket, visible).
Would the 25 include fees and taxes or is that additional?

How many days do I have to activate it from the time of purchase?
Would like to know this too. Current plan is expiring in several weeks.

Thanks, I'm planning to do that for my wife and I (we are currently with Mint). But I also wanted to get one for a visiting family member who will only be here for 5 months at most.

Hello mobile $5 talk text plan on one sim and this on the other sim. It's been years since I've paid more that $15 for unlimited data.

My wife had 6 months of Unlimited Lyca plan. They blocked her from calling for two of those months because they claimed she made too many phone calls (data still worked, though).

When she wanted to port out after the six months, they gave her a very hard time obtaining her pin: Hours of runaround and waiting in their phone system. When she finally reached a live person, she had to go through 30 mins of dodging and attempts to dissuade her before finally getting her pin.

This was in late spring 2024, so fairly recent.

Not worth the hassle. Intro low price, and nail later.
