My wife had 6 months of Unlimited Lyca plan. They blocked her from calling for two of those months because they claimed she made too many phone calls (data still worked, though).

When she wanted to port out after the six months, they gave her a very hard time obtaining her pin: Hours of runaround and waiting in their phone system. When she finally reached a live person, she had to go through 30 mins of dodging and attempts to dissuade her before finally getting her pin.

This was in late spring 2024, so fairly recent.

$49 a month is wayyyy too much nowadays. BYOD plans can be had for like $25 or less for 30gb (boost, mint, redpocket, visible).

What does "unlimited" mean if there's a data cap? Borderline useless dial-up speeds thereafter?

DO NOT GO FOR THIS PLAN no matter what. I opted for this plan thinking it's a good deal for 6 months. But that was not the case. For the first month, it was 12.25, but from the second month onwards, they charged me 49, and when I contacted their customer service, which apparently is the worst in the world, literally, told me that it's not 12.25 for 6 months, it's 12.25 for the first month, and that offer is valid for 6 months. 12.25 is only for the first month. And they don't let you port out, no matter what. They will find reasons to devoid you of porting out in any possible way. I literally had to change my number because of that. Never ever go for Lyca, ever.

Try contacting CS again, all 3 of my lines have renewed at $12.25 + tax.

Agree ...Lyca has sucked for years ...they give you cheap deals and then harass you if you want to port out ! Also you miss calls ....sometimes people will tell you they were trying to reach you , but you never see the call ...it just goes directly to vm
..horrible service...will never go to Lyca ever again !!!

I am sure they have fine print somewhere saying "unlimited" means whatever they deem reasonable. Most businesses are like that nowadays. She eventually got the pin, after spending much time and threatening with an FCC complaint, and ported her number to US Mobile. No problems there.

I tried this for a month as a 2nd line, service was terrible. Took it on a road trip from NY to VA because i haven't been happy with Verizon coverage. In every situation, Verizon was better.

I've tried T-Mobile and Mint, both of them had better service than lyca. I know they use the t mobile network, but my experience was not good.

I got a text that my next month would be $49 and called CS. They confirmed that it should be $12.25 and that they'd give me a refund if it wasn't. That's a PITA, of course, but we'll see tomorrow what happens, haha.

Did you by any chance cancel auto-renew (even if you turned it back on) and/or change the billing method on file? I did both of those and I'm wondering if that triggered something, since the TOS for the plan say something about the promo being void if auto-renew is cancelled. I wonder if they mean it will go away even if you toggle the setting, regardless of whether or not it's on at renewal time...

I got the following text 1 business day prior to renewal:

Your LycaMobile $49 plan will auto-renew at midnight EST on xx-xx-2024. Please ensure sufficient funds are available on your account balance. To cancel auto-renewal dial *190#

On the day of renewal I got the following:

Dear Customer, your top up for 49 UNLIMITED NATIONAL PLAN OL bundle for amount 12.25 is successful. valid up to xx-xx-2024

I checked my cc and I was billed for the correct amount. I did not make any changes to autopay settings after enrolling.

Helium is $20 a month but you earn daily rewards (typically between 75 cents and $1 a day) for turning on location services on your phone. This helps map the network and as long as you leave your house you'll get the daily reward. This is then applied to your monthly bill, reducing it to $0. It's pretty cool!

I did signup for this plan a week ago and my outgoing calls is not working, did anyone face this? Incoming, data is working though.
