In terms of power supplied you are correct (which is why I also stated the DRX 3.4 had slightly less power), but a key about the DRX 3.4 is that it has full preouts so you can hook up an external amp to 9 channels (vs 11 on the RZ50) -- this feature is missing from the 7100 and 305 (which dont have any preouts) and only in the Onkyo RZ50 and Pioneer 505. If desiring using external amps this would be a dealbreaker for the 7100 or 305 but possible with the DRX 3.4 (making the lesser power not even matter). Otherwise its got same functionality as RZ50 (less 2 channels processed so youd be limited to 5.1.4 with 4 atmos vs 7.1.4 with rear surrounds and 4 atmos)

You can just as easily understand that the extra 2 channel processing on the RZ50/DRX5.4 is a "bonus". You are willfully downplaying one major feature for another for no discernable reason. What if I use pre-outs and never plan to use 11 channels? sigchidj is correct. It is between a 7100 and RZ50. You plugging your ears and closing your eyes doesn't change that.

No surprise they are sonically similar since they have the same DACs (translate from Chinese to English in the browser).

It's working for me now too, link was not working last night. Very tempting, have an Integra DRX 4 currently that has worked great especially for the price I paid for it, but very interested in trying out Dirac live. Is there anything else similar with Dirac at this price? I currently only have a 5.1.2 setup so don't necessarily need more than 7 channels, not sure if I will add any in the future.
You could look at/for the Pioneer 305, gives you the same Dirac Live & 9 channels.
It has gotten down to $519 new & OB just over $300.
People often say these receivers all sound the same/ similar.
If that's the case, might as get the least expensive one.

305/505 appear to have that problem of power mysteriously dropping off for no reason, rather radically in fact: https://www.audiosciencereview.co...31/page-30

there is a lot of poorly engineered junk on the avr market, some of these receivers are designs from years ago... it's unfortunate that we have to pay upwards of $1k to get reliable clean sound with no bizarre malfunctions.

There are many that measure similarly like Onkyo's 7100/RZ50 but many are very happy with them(including 305/505).

If you want to go by measurements I would suggest starting at AS and go from there.

this has nothing to do with measurements, it's broken functionality and it's been verified by a number of people.

suggest that you read the link more thoroughly... see the 305 for instance: https://www.audiosciencereview.co...ues.52637/

Again it's not the only one that has measured issues.

You always have opposing opinions where upon using they don't have the problem/issue.

I gave an example of the RZ50 and it's very popular many report no problems/issues for them.

If you value that website more, again I would suggest going there.

you clearly haven't researched the issue, but insist on trying to trivialize what you don't understand.

Lol the reality is there are opposing owners that disagree with your opinion.

The only one cheerleading for one side is you!
If AS is your reality what the heck are you doing in here! 🙄

I've long given up on trying to reason with him. You'd have better luck teaching a pig to fly!
Concerning the "stealth protection", I had this to say about the RZ50 back in May:
https://slickdeals.net/f/17388414-onkyo-tx-rz50-9-2-channel-thx-certified-av-receiver-factory-refurbished-899-free-shipping?p=170730531#post170730531

If prospective DRX3.4 owners have challenging, low-impedance speakers BUT are able to kick out to external amps, then it's a good match!

So true he's been trying to convince me I should be listening by reading math & science and wouldn't you know it I keep listening with my ears!!!
I just can't hear anything with my eyes!!!
Oh well if that's wrong pretty happy using my ears!!! woot

The irony though, he has been making faulty claims on how Dirac works.
I've provided Dirac's own user manual and for some reason he can not comprehend it.
He even goes as far to claim Dirac is wrong!!!
Funny thing though, even my neighbors pig comprehends it but he can not fly!

The US is far from a leader in science or math so the jedi mind tricks work really well.

Remember how you claimed that ALL Onkyos are forced to perform bass management in the AVR and can't be done in Dirac per Dirac instructions? Here ya go (from actual RZ70 owners should you be brave enough to visit AVS again):

Like I said no reading comprehension, maybe it's selective! 🤔
A clue is all this deflection and false claims he makes!

I haven't "claimed" anything, I provided Dirac's own user manual and even showed what it says in plain English!

It says unless you have/paid for Dirac Live Bass Control.
Dirac(Dirac Live) relies on the AVRs bass management for that.
Written in plain English in their user manual! https://www.dirac.com/wp-content/...Manual.pdf

Clearly it's not my "claim" but you keep claiming they're wrong without proof! 🙄

I do remember you "claiming" DLBM has some secret squirrel special "usefulness" over DL.
The only thing it does more is lets you adjust the crossover you already set before running DL with in Dirac!
AGAIN that written in plain English!

Since you disagree with Dirac without proof, you try to deflect and say it's my "claim"! Nice try there Jedi 😜

Can you add a Stereo AMP to make this 11.1 like Denon X3800H and the others?

No this can only process 9 channels.

wrong, nobody disagrees because the radical power jumps have been measured and proven.

you however are in denial as usual, lmao

no need for you to be embarrassed about being wrong, just admit that it's a real problem and move on with your life.
