IMO, if you're going to go with the same group every time (I go with my partner mostly), I'd get gold + all parks add on for one person (this gets you free parking on that pass) and regular for everyone else. With magic mountain becoming available that calculus might change but i believe you can make the upgrade at any point in the year for free.
The park is fun but is definitely showing its age in places; a few bathrooms pretty consistently smell terrible to me. Parking is also something of a nightmare in that you never have any idea what lot they're going to route you to—they need parking garages, but I get the sense they barely have money for upkeep.
The park gets super crowded and as noted here, line control is pretty awful. They've seemed to dedicate more and more space to fast lanes recently, despite a lot of popular rides only running one train at a time. This creates predictable issues. I think the workers tend to be nice but it is a teen crowd, not "cast members" who have the brand loyalty you get at disney.
The food is good to occasionally great. The theme park fare (burgers, chicken tenders, etc.) is consistent; the different culinary events they put out throughout the year typically have plenty of selections available to season pass holders (an example—I got a peach and balsalmic flatbread from prop shop the last time I was there, extremely good)
In a lot of ways I'd say the park is run nonsensically. An example: the back entrance is rarely open, but when it is it's often much easier to get there from any parking lot that isn't the main one (not that you'll have any idea what lot you end up in before you do a full loop on the surface streets around the park). The problem is that basically no one ever knows if it's open, it isn't listed anywhere on the app, and when it is open it sometimes closes before the rest of the park... so good luck if you're planning a quick exit out the back).
Customer service is... well not Disney. About a year back I left some sunglasses in a ride cubby—totally my fault, wouldn't be upset if they were gone forever. But lost and found got them. Took a picture of them and everything. Said I had either two weeks or a month (I forget) to pick up. I came a week later... the sunglasses were gone. Pretty sure the CS rep at the front of the park implied directly to me that a worker just took them home. I was promised a supervisor would get in touch with me to make things right and that never happened, despite me reaching out to them (the opposite of what they said would happen).
It's essentially a budget park at this point, and you're going to experience that. At Disney you'll never see entire families parking in one hour parking, walking into the park to get dinner, and then leaving with their food all packed up. I'm sure literally hundreds of people do this daily at Knott's, producing predictable congestion.
The rides are good but the lineup feels extremely stagnant as we wait for Montezooma's revenge to come back. It's a little better now but when Xcelerator was down for like two years the roller coaster offerings felt extremely sparse. Also some (non-roller coaster) rides clearly need intense makeovers or to be replaced—the mine ride is unrideable because the wheels squeak hellishly loud the entire time.
Security theater is a pain but you can bring whatever you want into this park—whether that's a plus or minus for you.
They have some excellent merch but clearly don't have the most responsive production pipeline; we've been waiting on a Woodstock plush that sits on your shoulder (magnetic) to return literally all year—last year it was the Snoopy ear hat and Woodstock headband.
The seasonal events are very fun, even if they mainly boil down to food.
I really appreciate/respect Knotts' commitment to bringing local artists and vendors into the spaces, but it does seem like it could be more consistent—why did they scale back their shows with Native performers when they have ample space for them? Why is the only time they use the Schulz Theatre for their weirdly Christian holiday show?
I'm sure I'm missing some important info here, but please let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to address them.
For extra savings, if you have Citi custom cash or chase freedom credit card those give 5% back at amusement parks at the moment
FWIW, I bought the meal add on and beverage add on too and that works also.

The main question about the knotts pass + all-parks is: will you get free parking at knotts. The cheap $99/$125 knotts passes don't include any type of parking, and then you buy the All Parks addon, which allows you to use your pass benefits at any park. But since knotts doesn't include parking, maybe that means you get no parking anywhere else either.
If the addon does automatically give you parking, then i think it's even cheaper than buying a knotts-only pass + the knotts-parking addon.
For anyone who hasn't been in a long time, Knotts has really gone downhill, and they don't since they're cheaper than Disney and everyone keeps buying their passes.

You'd still need to add parking to the pass but if you're always going with the same people just add it to one pass and it'll pay for itself very quickly.
I imagine later next year they will combine ticketing systems so both segments can share benefits. They're pretty much duct taping these two systems together.

How's the food?
Do you have to wait in long lines for it?
What's considered a meal?

The lines: holy cow, knotts may be the worst. There are so many people at knotts, it's insane. They went down to one train operations on their best, most popular roller coaster, ghost rider, and the line was 3 hrs long. It's one of the reasons I try and only go on my weird days off during the week. I will also go at rope-drop to try and beat the lines, then go home after 1/2 a day or hit Magic mountain.
If you can afford the fast lane season pass, or if you access the Ada line like the rest of Orange County, then you don't have to wait is as long a line.
