Very vague description, unclear of supported bands and sim type...
Nowadays I usually get travel esim and because my phone is Android I use one of those popular travel router runs OpenWRT to tether and share my network to other devices.

The setup is a little clumsy on the move, I admit, but my life is much easier without dealing with physical sim and one less device to charge.( I power my travel router with adapter or power bank).

Will this work with a TMobile SIM? Does it have to be a hotspot plan?

Not sure if this particular device will work with t-mobile SIM, but when I tried a similar device, it required a SIM w/ a hotspot plan.

T-Mobile recently stopped allowing my iPad mini to work with a voice SIM. *sigh*

So now my free voice line goes in an old phone that acts as a full-time hotspot.

I would just do what you do, but I have a grandfathered TMobile One plan with abysmally slow tethering speeds…

Mine just arrived. The "user guide" does not provide any instructions on installing the sim card. I tried different ways with two different sims (Mint Mobile AT&T and Red Pocket T-Mobile) and cannot get a signal and the display reads 'no service'. No web site for additional instructions or contact info. Has anyone gotten theirs to connect?

Also, the device has 2 sim docks - one is mini and the other is the next size up (small?). The small size has what looks like a sim card installed. What would this be used for? My mini sim does not fit in the small size dock.

Thanks

I think the top right slot is for micro sd card. The one under it I think is the slot for the sim card.

If your sim card is nano, then you can replace the existing nano sim card that comes with the hotspot. Basically swap out the nano part of the sim card with yours. You will ended up with micro sim card with your nano sim card in the middle.

It's zte if you put an AT&T Sim card in this, it will lock your account and shut that Sim card off immediately I had two old Zoe phones and a zte hotspot as soon as I put the Sim card in it would literally shut down that line and it wouldn't work in another account. I called him and had it reactivated and they would give me some spiel about how the device wasn't safe and all this stuff.

I purchased one of these deals. The unit was delivered and the Li-ion batter was so swollen, It would barely fit in the case. I attempted to charge and could not get the hotspot to power on. Apparently you cannot run the hotspot on usb power either. I contacted UntilGone.com for a replacement, and they declined replacement and issued a refund. I have extensively searched for a replacement battery and was unable to find one.

Can you share little more about your setup. Which travel esim. When you use android to tether, doesn't that count against your hotspot data which is usually very expensive. What's benefit of your setup. Why don't you just just hotspot feature in yout android phone.

It doesn't, which is great.
You can find out more here:

I only tried with non-rooted Android, can't speak about others.

How do you connect your android phone with router? Is it wifi repeater or connected via cable?

Is this technique using proxy?? I don't think my work laptop vpn will work. It detects proxy.
