90% of morons on this thread will ruin the deal by asking dumb questions to Best Buy and possibly altering them to check trade in phone in details. Just keep your mouth shut when you go there to pick up the phone

Still the biggest question is does Best Buy care about model #s or not; as long as it's an iPhone 12 Pro with the storage you selected (128gb base).
Per someone earlier, get the correct color and memory size and you'll be golden. That's for in-store trade though. For mail in trades, it must be exact.

My S23U color wasn't even listed, so I chose the closest color to it.
Never dealt with BB trade in before I am wondering how this will go through

Are Graphite and Blue (both are 128gb Verizon) only ones available in selection option since beginning? any other color/size/carrier combination likely not going to be accepted.
I'm willing to take risk with 12 Pro white 512gb/tmo version if available to buy again!

Here are some tips from me who traded in 4 iPhones to Best Buy in-store for Pixel 8 phones in the last few weeks:
* I dealt with 4 different BB reps. Three of them turned on the phone, looked at the IMEI number on the phone screen, keyed it into their computer, then took a cursory look at the screen and back of the phone for obvious damages. One didn't even turn on the phone, only looked at the screen and back. After that, they had me sign an agreement for the terms of the trade-in and they accepted the phones.
* I reset the iPhones and took out the SIM cards before taking them to the store. When an iPhone was reset, on the Hello screen you can touch the little "i" in a circle and it will show the phone IMEI, Serial Number, and the ICCID (SIM number) if a SIM is in the phone. That's all the rep will see. None of them went through the set-up steps to get to the point where they can look at About Phone.
* I suspected that the reps keyed in the iPhone's IMEI to check its "Blacklist" status. There are two web sites where you can look up info about your iPhones for free: www.IMEICheck.com [IMEICheck.com] and www.sickw.com [sickw.com] . On IMEICheck.com , enter your iPhone's IMEI1 then click on Check IMEI. On Sickw.com site, enter your iPhone's IMEI then click on CHECK. It will perform the FREE - IPHONE CARRIER - SIMPLE check. There are other functions which cost money. Neither site shows the cryptic Model Number MGHxxxxx, etc. I doubt that the BB reps see that on their screen when they entered your iPhone's IMEI number.

I hope all that will alleviate your anxiety about selecting the correct model for your trade-in. Just select the choice that's closest to what you see at those two web sites.

Most of the 9 Pro pre-orders are mail in trades; didn't see any pickup option available... so I'm guessing most people are screwed for that then.

Yeah, I've done in-store trade about two (2) times myself and they don't check model number; only IMEI and color of the selected phone. I've never done mail-in trade with Best Buy before and am having trouble even finding the model # I selected.

I've dealt with that trade-in place with previous pixel deals, and you want a 100% model match when sending in. Any deviation is cause for a rejection. Make sure you select the option to return if the price is adjusted, or you could end up being stuck with $200-$300 credit instead of the full amount. Mailing in your trades is pretty stressful, even with an impeccable unit.

If you can't find the exact model for a mail-in, be prepared for rejection. If you can find the correct model listed on the google site for trade-in, that would be the safer bet.

They canceled my order. Frown really bummed, tried getting the CS to reinstate it but they refused. Sucks. Was trading in an iphone 12 pro, now the model I was going to use is no longer on the trade list and I can't order the phone.

As far as I can tell (and maybe I'm wrong), but they can't get a model number unless they sign into the phone with an Apple ID, which I don't think they will do.

Yep, that is the biggest question . I have a iPhone 12 Pro 128 GB Pacific Blue (T-mobile) phone but the model number is MGKK3LL/A in the Settings. . Best Buy has it has MGLR3LL/A for Trade In for the same phone , but when I googled, this shows as ATT / Straight Talk / TracFone . So that is another worry where they do not even have the right model number listed for Trade Ins..
I have a counter point to this. Last year, I had traded in an iphone + Older Pixel to get the Pixel 8 Pro. The first time, I got to the store and the rep literally looked at the trade in model name and just denied my trade in. It was the same iphone 11, black, 64 gb.
But within that specific model, I had the wrong model name which wasn't in the BB database. This guy actually looked into a place where he got the model name and serial from my IMEI. He also made me reset the phone again, just to make sure that it wasn't cloud locked. The color, storage etc was all fine. It just wasn;'t the correct model name. Had no luck even attempting a manager override and calling Corporate.

Then I tried the same trade in with another store. This time the person didn't even look at the model number. Just checked the IMEI in his database and made some conversation about everyone trading in pretty new phones for a Pixel. Did get the deal easily in that location.

So Trade in with the store is YMMV. I would prefer to do it all in the store as opposed to order online and pick in store. Because if the trade in is unsuccessful, they will cancel the order on the spot.

What did they cancel (assuming a 9 pro)? And when did you placed your order?

Was a 9 Pro order. I think it was like 6PM yesterday? I contacted customer support for advice to check model for the the trade in I had and the dude I was talking to did not and could not understand me, so he canceled my order and hung up, I contacted CS to get my order reinstated and then they said no. I'm so sad now lol

That person was extra careful, usually when they check the IMEI they should know if it's iCloud locked or not

You can still get into the phone setting without sign in Apple ID, you can skip it

That's an unfortunate situation for sure. On the plus side, you can still order a regular 9 or 9 pro xl Smilie. Still great deals. I'm not holding my breath for the 9pro to come back during this tradein window

well pro xl is $430 trade in for me, I could get a 9 though with a different trade in phone.
