I'd give the edge to the Asus Tuf, I feel like having an i9 in a laptop versus an i7 is diminishing returns with thermal considerations in mind, and you would probably enjoy the added performance from the 4070 versus the 4060 in the HP.

How is this ?
Compared to the posted HP?? Your Costco HP is leagues behind, with regard to gaming laptops...

Could you clarify this comment?
Hmm, there's a few components to my comment so I'll see what I can do here.

Omen has better build quality, cooling, and overall performance than the Victus line. The chassis will be more rigid, the keyboard usually offers better quality switches and more lighting options. Usually the Omen line has more I/O.

The screen quality on this is considered low end today. 1080p has a relatively low pixel density for a 16.1" screen, and the brightness is fine but nothing stellar. I also had a chance to see this laptop hands-on at the store and it was underwhelming.

The i9 is the top end intel chip and only one generation old, so you're usually paying a premium for that. The 4060 is one step up from entry-level for the 40 series but still desirable and performs well. Combine those two and you have a pretty good package.

Thank you for the information. I assume you were underwhelmed by the screen?

Yeah. It's fine, good colors and didn't have terrible response times and ghosting - but it's nothing to write home about. You're certainly getting your money in the hardware underneath the keyboard.

I saw this but I'm actually interested in that i9 for longevity since I'm more interested in productivity. It's almost twice as fast as that i7.
On paper, yes, but I really doubt that you'd get the full performance out of an i9 chip. Some anecdotal stories online have shown people with 13th gen i9 laptops get thermal throttling almost as soon as it's under any load, which is probably counterproductive. In a desktop with adequate cooling? Fair game.

This is compelling and definitely worth me considering before pulling the trigger. I have three 12th gen processors in desktops. I know they have a high TDP but I though the 13th gen was much, much, better.

If only this was an i7 and a QHD screen. Sigh....

Would this be an overkill for playing LOL and CSGo?

Well, the thing is, it *is* better, the 13th and 14th gen also just have some new problems, and some laptop manufacturers just do nonsensical hardware combinations which don't really make sense given a laptop's cooling capabilities (and I have one of the OMEN 15s and I think they're very well cooled, actually, but again, I limited myself to an i7)

I ordered this the other day when my son sent me the Omen w/the i7 from the HP website for $1499. Figure for moderate gaming and first year college stuff, it's should fit the bill. Not sure if everyone will get this, but after having it in my cart a few hours, Best Buy had a pop up for $25 credit on $500 and up comp purchases as well.

Because I have multiple places in my home with high-end displays (think basement office, all-season room, 1st floor nook). I work at home and like to migrate throughout the day and moving a laptop has been the answer and the current one's screen NEVER gets used. Problem is Iris Xe can't keep up with 4K 120Hz for productivity.

So, for me, it is about spending the "right" amount of money where I still consider the screen good enough and can be the least-best thing.
Have you considered 1440p @120hz? Unless you're sitting super close to an oled 4k might be overkill

This is the CPU that cooks itself, in case you were wondering.
