For all of you whose timer like this one died: I have had 3-4 of these over the years and from what I have learned, if it dies because of frost or freeze or such, just bring it home, take out the battery, open the 5-6 screws and take out the main part. It's usually a black tube with a "valve" that is screwed into it. Unscrew the valve with hands, some water will drip out and you will see a solenoid with a spring loaded plunger. Just take out all the water, dry with a paper towel and put stuff back as it was, screw it back etc. that's it. Starts to operate like new again.

I had a Ray Padula sprinkler timer that looked like this. It lasted a few seasons before it stopped turning on. Also had a Ray Padula sprinkler that recently stopped rotating. Got them cheap from a Sears liquidation. YMMV.

Haven't heard of this brand for water timer. Even the expensive Orbit timers, all seem to fail after a few seasons.

Helps to cover it with pretty much anything. Also take it off before the hard freeze so it doesn't pop inside

I have Melnor brand and it works great over the years. I bring it inside before winter hits. After a few seasons, I still haven't had to change the battery. lol

I agree, My Orbit seems to have just died. I'll choose to buy this and if it lasts a few seasons, I'll be happy enough since its cheaper than orbit

My 4 zone orbit has been working fine for well over 15 seasons now, just have take care of it, take the batteries out, drain all the water, keep the control unit out of direct sun

I had melnor for 1 season and the close/open mechanism wouldn't work under pressure. I had to soak the internals with vinegar to dissolve the minerals and it started working

Not sure what their customer service is like, but their website leads me to believe this has a 5-year warranty. Good to know considering how quickly hose timers stop working.

Why not. I've got a drip line on an Orbit lower tech timer. Diff is I have to set it to on manually (but it shuts off after X minutes I set it at). This will work

What company did you use for your drip lines? Would you recommend them?
