This has been there off and on for a month. Not worth it at all considering you can jump into a SP11 for under a grand.

The i7 16 256 was this price Certified Refurb in May. Look it up on Slickdeals.

If you don't mind ARM (most people won't, I do), the Surface Pro 11 base model (Snapdragon X Plus, 16GB, 256GB) new is a much better deal at $899 as it knocks the pants off of the SP9 both in terms of performance and in terms of battery life.

I'll be waiting for the SP 11 For Business / SP 12 with an x86 SoC (Lunar Lake 200V?)

Where can I find it for $899?

That's the price I've been seeing when I log into my Microsoft account since the announcement date. I first thought it was a pre-order discount. But no. It's still showing a $100 discount for each model.

Two things to note:
1. I've bought the SP4, SP5, and SP7 from MS before. So this might be some "switch to ARM, loyal SP user" discount. (That won't happen in my case until ARM crosses the 50% mkt share threshold)
2. I'm registered with a .edu email address although it is NOT a school account, but rather a plain vanilla individual account.

Arm at the moment won't work for me since it has compatibility issues with some adobe apps. I love the speed and efficiency of the sp11 but I don't want to deal with it not running all my software properly. Unfortunately that means the sp9 is my only option if I want the latest surface tablet

You can get a Surface Pro 10 from the MS business store. You get better displays and more powerful CPUs.

Unfortunately they are charging "business" prices for the 10. The cheapest 16gb model is twice the price of the deal here

The last x86 Surface Pro that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and still has a decent amount of RAM? In for 1, thanks OP. Also thanks @Murcie for the tip on keyboards....ended up getting one that came with the Slim Pen 2 for $70.
