I have an Alienware 3225QF and a 7900xtx. I use HDMI but was reading mixed things about HDMI vs Display port

Should I stick with HDMI and get these ones? I could use a longer cable since the one I'm using is 3ft, I think?

Depends more on what display you're using. A monitor would likely be better suited with display port. TV your only option will be hdmi.
