Ryobi is releasing their barrel grip brushless jigsaw this month...at least they're supposed to be. You can see it on their website. Could be why they're giving this one away.

Just letting people know in case they'd rather hold out another week or two for a better model.

Weird set. A minor tool and two different batteries. And a ridiculous MSRP. Can't figure out who it's marketed towards.

So, I guess if you want the $69 non-brushless saw and some extra batteries and are willing to pay $99, this is the deal for you.

Jigsaw comes out to $46 + tax when checking out. You can always return the batteries if you have too many

Yeah the jigsaw is a common tool in most combos. I guess if you were going to buy some batteries and didnt have the jigsaw, you get the jigsaw for $20 (batteries sell for $79).

It's a servicable jigsaw - just got a second one with the price hacking for ~$35 or so last week with the "send the battery to another store" trick.

This is all about the batteries and not the tool. The tool is "free".

Just note, this is their cheapest jigsaw and they're not great. Known for not keeping the blade true with any side to side force. Found this out first hand and promptly got rid of it.

Haven't heard that they're known for not being true BUT have heard that it helps to replace Ryobi's default blades with some from Dewalt for example.

It's already for sell at $139. The design and compactness look cool. Is it worth it? Probably for the pros.

The brushless is worth the extra.

Deal is dead now, but anything close to $70 is a good price.

I've given up on ryobi tools. Had 2 fail witching the last 2 months. Their deals are good but man their tools are crap. Their warrant is crap if I have to drive 60 miles to an authorized repair shop

Their fans on the other hand is awesome. For tools I use often it's min dewalt, makita and Milwaukee for the top

Good blades are necessary, yes. But Ryobi's ability to keep tension on the blade to keep it true is documented out there. I've heard many say it's their worst tool (not my experience, but it is one of the worst i've used).

Ryobi is fine for diy homeowner sets. Never had a problem with any of my ryobi tools. For professional use I'd imagine the extra cost of dewalt or other pro grade tools will be well worth the investment.

It is fine for homeowners, but some are still very limited and/or not as good bang for the buck.

For example, a simple drill + impact will handle most of what a homeowner will use. But if we're talking about more torque type applications you'll quickly see where those tools can't hold up. I tried redoing a 500sq ft deck with my diy homeowner ryobi set and they absolutely sucked. Constantly needing to charge batteries and putting a lot of muscle into driving a deck screw.

But things like their 18ga brad nailer, their fans, their low torque impact wrenches and such are perfectly fine for most people and projects.
