This one is fine, but I think the ones with an actual display are better. Get Sony Starvis 2 if you can afford $150-250 for very good quality. Starvis 1 is still fine, better than nothing. Just put in starvis on Amazon & look model on youtube, then watch an actual review with footage. Find one that fits your needs. They're all about the same, except some have better customer service. Blackvue & vantrue are pretty good but very pricey. Would suggest viofo or 70mai for budget. Owned a viofo for 5 years now, finally upgraded to a 70mai 2.5k. So far, so good

I have the one with a screen. in texas it gets very hot, 130+ degrees in the car. the screen glue start to come loose. The dashcam and buttons still work, but it looks like it will fall out. having said that, I have had mine for 5 years now with the screen protruding. still works.

If you can, get a vantrue n4 pro. This is how/why I picked it: https://youtu.be/lzdxCOvPq5Q?si=AqgzP7jwUlZawj2H

I need to buy one for my car after having an accident last October and got blamed on me for not having a witness. Which brand or model do you recommend that does not brake the bank either single front and/or including the rear camera. I have a hybrid do you recommend getting the harness and having it 24/7?
While I can't recommend one that doesn't "break the bank" being wrongly accused and having your insurance go up will definitely break the bank. I have a viofo a129 and it works well enough. It's front and back for about $150 and it's hard wired into my fuse so it runs 24/7. Install cost me about $45

Usually if you don't brake, you tend to break your car.

I would recommend Viofo for the best bang for the buck. I've had about 7 so far. The only one I had to RMA was the a119 mini 2 due to a white screen.

For you I would recommend the A229 Plus, it's $180 at Amazon for a front and rear camera. You can get the hardwired kit if you want to record while parked. I chose to get the Dongar adapter since it's easier to install, less wires, and I don't need parking mode.

That's a refurbished one and it's really old. I would recommend getting a newer one that has a Starvis 2 sensor: a119 mini 2, VS1, a229. These have WiFi so you don't need to take out the memory card to view. They also have voice so you can hear it's recording when you turn on the car. If out of nowhere, it says recording started, it means there's probably something wrong with your memory card. Also, it's easier to change the settings using the app. You don't have to set up the time manually, you can sync it to your phone.

I already have the A119 Mini 2 from the previous deal and now wanting to add another one at the back of the car. Will this be good enough for my needs?

I see most of the complains are from not having a screen and some issues connecting to a phone which can interfere with in dash bluetooth. What if I were to use an old phone that I leave in the glove box specifically for this cam? Would it fix the issue people complain about?

No, the time to buy was before you had an accident...

Spend the money and get at least a A229 Plus with 2K front and back, Starvis 2 sensors.

I have a different dashcam [amazon.com] that's similar to this without a screen. I keep an old iPhone in the glovebox to either view the cam or adjust settings. I could use my main phone, but i got tired of disabling Apple Car Play (which uses WIFI) to be able to connect to the dashcam's WIFI. I make sure to keep it charged. Worse case and i have an accident and its not charged, i can use my main phone (after disabling Carplay) to immediately connect and review the data.

Any recommendations for a front and inside dash cam? It will be mounted in a Minivan.

No. But that one is tried and true. It also doesn't have wifi.

I have the mini 2 with a screen and it has 5ghz wifi which the one in the OP apparently only has 2.4ghz which makes a huge difference if you use it to transfer video.

But no, I only use the screen for initial setup
