Largely depends on your preference, size of your yard, and type of grass.

For example I've had both. Gas for ages. Picked up a craftsman V60 on clearance real cheap several years ago to try out, but now I'm back on gas. The battery mower was ok, for awhile, but not great..then the battery degraded after a season or so to the point I could no longer mow the whole yard on a charge. Additional/replacement batteries were non existent for this model...but for other battery mowers, just the battery sometimes cost more than the whole package! Then a few years later the battery died completely rending it and the mower a paperweight. The pluses...could mow the entire yard on one charge while it was new. Quieter. No engine to maintain. No fumes. Etc. The negatives...the power was just barely adequate for the thick St Augustine grass common here, so if you let it get too long or try to mow wet, it's a struggle as it will constantly stall. The batteries...as mentioned already, if you can even get them when the original wears out, they are crazy expensive. Then the longevity, largely because of the battery situation. Mine was only useable for a few years until it was straight up trash. My gas mower is 13yrs old and still runs and mows good as new and has the power to get thru nearly anything within reason.

None in stock Nashville area. No big deal for me, my 17 year old Honda mower starts on the first pull every time just like it has from the day I bought it.

If you can get one of these, do it now. Honda has stopped producing lawn mowers since regulations and everything are going towards battery powered mowers. Honda is by far the best gasoline powered lawn mower. Like mentioned earlier, don't worry about parts since there are so many other Honda small engine products. I have this one, or one similar, and 2 others before this one.

Forgetting money, would you recommend this, or the Toro Timemaster? I can get a brand new Timemaster at Home Depot for $1100. I know it's almost double the price, but is the Timemaster really that much better? Thanks!

Just a heads up. I had mine delivered by Fedex Ground but received an empty box. Home Depot did not help me nor Home Depot Credit Card nor Fedex. In all cases the picture of the box on my stoop was proof of delivery, even though it was empty. I'm out $750.

I like gas mowers. Power is non-matched. But my city is going green & possibly will only allow battery powered ones. I have an old Craftsman with a Honda engine, top quality stuff. Got an electric Ryobi also and it's eh.

I would buy a Honda over a Timemaster anyday of the week. Had a Timemaster. Nothing but issues. My local power equipment store bought it back from me used. I was happy to get rid of it.

I bought one a few years ago and returned it. The edges/corners of the plastic deck quickly got scuffed from rolling on/off the driveway and sidewalk, then that part would snag grass.

Gas powered is becoming obsolete. Go to Lowe's and look. Everything is battery powered. That way you can mow today. Battery dies, then you can mow tomorrow.

Doesnt the deck have a lifetime warranty for the original owner?

Hearing that self propelled part is the weak section of the mower. Friend of mine had 2 and both had self propelled part go bad. Not quickly mind you, like after 10 yrs on both of them but engine works fine so manually pushing works, but self propelled part kinda makes it slightly harder to manually push and make the mower heavier.

I have husky mower (manual push) with Honda engine and works great but a bit hard to use due to the slope in the back of the house. Honda does make great engine though, too bad if they are getting out of the small gas engine business.

I would test out a timemaster before i bought it. It is very heavy and can beat you up on a half acre. The personal pace is not for everyone. And honestly HP cuts grass, so while the time master is 50% wider, your going to have to go slower than the honda unless its a very light cut. The timemaster does get points for easy to swap transmission if it dies, and the belt drive dual blades are worlds better than the nylon gears some of the other wide bodies use.

There is a thing called weight when they start shipping tracking on Fedex. It is not the same weight I believe someone is lying here.

I had a Timemaster and was not impressed; it always clogged in crabgrass whether discharge, mulching, or bagging

From what I understand, Honda is the top of the gas mower game AND this is the last of their gas mowers as US regulations is forcing electric only in some states. I got one a few months ago when I learned this just to make sure I am good into the future. Get one while you can.

More than likely, an axle seal on the hydrostatic transmission has sprung a leak. Thankfully, the purportedly non-serviceable hydrostatic transmission can be serviced. There are several helpful YouTube videos showing how to change the transmission fluid and replace the seals. Mind you, it's quite the tear down to get the transmission out. I just did it myself a month or two ago, and my HRX217 is back to pulling me across the lawn.
