Let be clear on their unlocking policy. There is 365 days waiting time, and also the phone should have service for 180 days within 365 days. This is per my recent conversation with their customer service agent.
Please remember that their unlock policy criteria does not specify automatic unlock regardless of the service time.

You're missing the point here. 99% of us only want to pay $125 1x to get the phone. You want to pay $70 a month for 2 years. Not us😀

365 day unlock, but can you use a Tmobile SIM in the meantime?
No, unfortunately. They're literally locked to Metro, and Metro only.

Thanks for sharing. Any idea when this was changed? I have an iPhone 12 from them that I purchased in March this year. It was supposed to get unlocked in September.
They changed it about a month ago. I also have an iPhone 12 from a March purchase. AFAIK (and as reported by others), the phones purchased before the 6 months to 12 months switch, will still be unlocked as per the contract. So our iPhone 12s from March should still unlock automatically in September (180 days after activation).

Also, they missed to boat a little with the timing of the promo... I purchased an iPhone 12 last week to do a trade-in with Pixel 9 at BB. They have now reduced to price, so no longer worth it, IMO. Now they can't show off the "new activations" number to their shareholders.

Anyone know if Metro would do a price adjustment on these if we ordered them last week?
You wish. Smilie

This is a phone for $130. You're talking about paying $70 for 2-3 years? (Not familiar with boost) $1680-$2520. No thanks.

Looks like we need to unlock the google voice number to port out. Below are the instructions from the website https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en [google.com]

To port your number out of Google Voice, first you need to unlock the number. Then, let your carrier know you want to port a number to their service. Work with them until the porting process is complete.

When you unlock your Google Voice number, it costs $3 USD. But if your number was originally ported in from another carrier, there's no charge

On your computer, open Google Voice.
At the top right, click Settings and then Settings.
Go to the "Account" section.
Under the Google Voice number you wish to port out, click Unlock.
Complete the payment with your Google Account.
If successful, at the bottom left, it displays "Number unlocked."
Thanks this should be added to the op, if you didn't unlock google number and pay $3 you'll get an error and the google number will be flagged for an hour or so till you can do it again

I do see this in the footnotes "You'll need email & ID (to verify your name & address) to sign up.
Do you need to provide a driver's license when checking out online?

Isnt this almost a 4 year old phone now? The iPhone 16 is getting released next month, is it not?

This will have only a year more of updates and support, so probably not worth it unless for use as a trade in.

Most people here order it for Pixel trade-in deal I believe.
