Let be clear on their unlocking policy. There is 365 days waiting time, and also the phone should have service for 180 days within 365 days. This is per my recent conversation with their customer service agent.
Please remember that their unlock policy criteria does not specify automatic unlock regardless of the service time.

You're missing the point here. 99% of us only want to pay $125 1x to get the phone. You want to pay $70 a month for 2 years. Not us😀

Well, they do have an autopay option. When you select that you get $5 off each month and then would have to go into your account and cancel. WIthout autopay, you should just not have to pay for additional month(s).

Bb doesn't care your phone is locked or unlocked. As long model and color matched is fine. Some said color might not important either.

I will not guarantee anything. Nothing is guaranteed in this world. To be honest it doesn't matter if phone is unlocked for trade in. They have ways to unlock any phone. They only care about if the phone is reset to factory settings (in fact the only care about if 'find my phone' has been turned off). But it doesn't prevent asshole or clerks don't understand this and refuse for trade in. For Best Buy, it's essentially the same phone as T-Mobile phone and it's essentially the same as unlocked. The barrier is on the human intensionally or unintentionally blocking the trade in.

PS: anecdotally, I saw people successfully traded in at best buy on reddit. When metro is NOT an option the clerk at BB just checked the T-Mobile option in the system.

PPS: personally, I traded in my metro phone to Spectrum online without any issue.

Yeah, I could make it even slicker as I bought $270 worth of iPhone 12 from eBay...just for that trade in which I could return for free ...idk if it's worth that much hassle though. I guess I ll just move on, thx for chime in
