Let be clear on their unlocking policy. There is 365 days waiting time, and also the phone should have service for 180 days within 365 days. This is per my recent conversation with their customer service agent.
Please remember that their unlock policy criteria does not specify automatic unlock regardless of the service time.

You're missing the point here. 99% of us only want to pay $125 1x to get the phone. You want to pay $70 a month for 2 years. Not us😀

I don't see how this is a deal. You are stuck with a locked phone for one year
Spend some time here on sd then you'll know why we are buying it. If I told u this phone worth $800 just few days ago then u might reconsider what you said 😀

Tried buying two, but after the first one, it keeps erroring out on MetroPCS's webpage. Is it a problem that I'm using name on both purchases?

Would love an answer to this question.

Whatever you paid at checkout is what you are obligated to pay. That's it. You can activate the phone and use it if you want. It'll just auto cancel after 1 month. You can also not activate it if you just want to trade it in to Best Buy. They ship the SIM card outside of the box so when you turn on the phone, it behaves like any iphone. Go through the initial setup steps to activate it with Apple's server and go trade it in. Metro could care less as they got their 1st month $$$ from you already.

No, I have this exact phone locked to metro. When I put my T-Mobile sim in it doesn't work
Same here, I was going to ask my nephew to buy one as he's in need of a phone but I am getting Sim Not Supported message inserting T-Mob sims in. Looks like would only be good for trade-in.

For people who bought phones from Metro, are they sealed like any original Apple product?

All metro iPhones are locked to metro. Most Samsung phones and few moto phones can be used with T-Mobile sim out of the box.
