What eventually worked was to change the address.
Nothing works. "Please contact us to complete your order" is all I get. I give up, this deal is dead to me. Time to look on the marketplace for iphone 12. Just need one to trade it in for the new iphone.

I wholeheartedly agree. I've done the math and looked at it in different perspectives. One will ALWAYS save on MVNO plans over post-paid ones after purchasing a phone outright with trade-ins. There are only three scenarios where I would purchase postpaid. 1. If I were wealthy 2. If my time is extremely limited and time is too valuable to spend any time thinking about cell phone plans 3. If I need priority data all the time because I'm an important business man, Taylor Swift, or a top-notch politician. I've switched my wife from T-Mobile postpaid to Boost Mobile, then to Mint Mobile, then to Tello, and she doesn't know the difference in call quality/data. All the MVNOs I just listed are T-Mobile MVNOs!
True...but you only benefit if you need one of their most expensive unlimited plans and are seeking convenience ....and....willing to overlook the loss of your current phone which can be sold or given to someone.
Look at your monthly data usage and see what plan matches the usage, then subtract the price from the unlimited plans and you'll see how much you're overspending on your plan. This amount will almost always be more expensive than buying the phone outright. Since you're losing money on the trade-in, they're actually making even more money. If someone were to come in with a new phone and pick a plan that meets their data usage, AT&T wouldn't make as much money. See the scheme all the wireless carriers are engaged in?
One tip: unused data and minutes roll over from month to month if you initiate a new plan right before old one renews
