Let be clear on their unlocking policy. There is 365 days waiting time, and also the phone should have service for 180 days within 365 days. This is per my recent conversation with their customer service agent.
Please remember that their unlock policy criteria does not specify automatic unlock regardless of the service time.

You're missing the point here. 99% of us only want to pay $125 1x to get the phone. You want to pay $70 a month for 2 years. Not us😀

After 2 weeks, I had to call to finally get my Google Voice number fully ported in.
I'm in the same boat here. Do I just call metro, anything else I need to say or do? Tyvm

I called their porting department (800-518-7519) and told them that I ported in my Google Voice number and I haven't been able to receive calls or texts. They were able to fix it in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Takes only 1 minute to activate remotely online. I don't understand why so many worry about activation.

Its not about activation its about not using it..why waste a minute if its not needed. My point was if i dont actiavte metro Sim propably i wont be charged after one month without having to call them to cancel that i am sure will be more than a minute

This is prepaid service. You already paid for the phone and plan. Use it / activate it or not doesn't matter. They dont care. You dont need to cancel. It will be canceled automatically if you don't pay next month. Most ppl activated it so it can be unlocked after a year. If u just use it for trade-in deal then no need to do anything.

1. NO. 2. it seems these unlock rsim works perfectly for any carrier using tmobile signal. But not att or verizon. Wish someone with total wireless locked phone do a test with other verizon Sim or att sim
I tried with a Visible Sim and couldn't get it to work. I get the menu, but none of the options work. I even reset the network settings.

I am planning on doing this for the $1000 trade as well and think you need to wait to have the phone on hand as they are going to need the IMEI for the ip12
You don't need to have the IMEI. Just skip the IMEI on the trade-in page and put in Apple iPhone 12.
Then after you receive your new AT&T phone, take the 12 to a corporate store and do the trade-in there. They'll take the IMEI, confirm that Find My is turned off, and give you a receipt for the trade-in.
You're free to to the trade-in via mail-in also but I've heard horror stories about lost, damaged, or mis-valued phones.

Your acct will be inactive by the time they process your trade in completely. If you're still worry then you can swap device (transfer esim to another device).
