Ever since they sold out to Wolverine and are (mostly) made in China, the quality is garbage. They are MUCH lighter than they used to be, though, at the expense of durability and quality of materials.

I'm a happy Bedrock fan, now. I highly recommend looking into them if you're interested in a replacement for the old Colorado-made Chacos.

Wow, that was way back in 2008. I got a pair of Chacos flip flops in 2020 and I probably won't need new ones for a year or so. I had previously been going through a pair every year or less (of other decent brand ones). The Chacos are not only way more comfortable but also way more durable than anything else I've owned.
That said, I looked at getting some extras just so I had them, and they appear to have gotten rid of the ones with a leather strap, which sucks, and the filter for flip flops doesn't even include size 13 as an option, so I may be SOL when I need new ones anyway

I love my Chacs, but as someone said, they're no longer all made in the USA, and they feel noticeably lighter than they used to... in a cheap way. They're still the best though, and if they last me for 3-5 summers, I'm delighted with them.

Felt weird when I first tried it, but got used to it, and feels secure. Now I love them lol. Does well for mild to moderate hikes in tropical climates.

I sometimes use it for swimming shoes at beaches when the beach is rocky. Not the best, but works.

I didn't mind it being lighter because I always thought the shoes were too heavy. I switched over to sketchers. Way cheaper, and almost the exact same. I think the sizing is better on Skechers too. I didn't realize chacos were so narrow. I thought I was a regular but according to them I'm like a wider extra wide. In Skechers I'm a normal size 8. I'll check out bedrock though. Sounds interesting.

Hate my chacos. I'd rather go barefoot, at least I wouldn't get strap sores.

What's people's opinions of these vs tevas? I had to replace my "regular" tevas with the hurricane x2s otherwise I could feel every small stone or bump when waking. Curious how they compare to chaos because everyone seems to love chacos. But, seems chacos have a similar problem.

I have some Z clouds that are 10 years old that I wear on all my travels, but not every day at home. Yes, they are heavy but very good for walking over uneven or rocky terrain. I cannot comment on the quality as to how they are currently manufactured.

agreed. I bought some slide sandals about six months ago and the front strap ripped off. Never buying the brand again.

I trimmed of a small amount of the ends off so it does not drag. You then fold the end over and use either thread or a little glue (I use a hot glue gun) to hold the end with enough thickness that it does not slip out. But, before you decide how much to cut, I suggest that you wear your Chacos both with thick sandals and barefoot to make sure that you do not cut off too much. Chaco used to even resole your old pair (for a price) if you ever wore than out. Not sure if they still do, and it might be better to get another pair when on sale. Enjoy. (I have worn mine hiking down and up the Grand Canyon and trekking in Asia.)

I often end up with terrible foot pain after walking a lot, but my feet handle a day at Disney walking 20,000 steps better in these than anything else (including running shoes with orthotics).

I used to love Chaco Z/1s with the vibram-branded soles. The new Chaco-branded soles are very slippery in comparison. It's still a great sandal, but not as good as it once was.

Same as everyone else. Had old Z/1s with Vibram soles that I'd wear almost exclusively every day in the summer for something like ten years and glued the sole back on in places a couple times. Finally had to decide if I wanted them resoled or chuck em and I regret not getting them fixed.
However, in for some shoes as the prices are good here.
