If I could use Mint, this could be a similar deal to the BB deal, depending on what you value the year of service at. I figure $25 a month is about average for these MVNOs, so $250-$300 of service and you can sell/not buy your iPhone for $150ish for a total "cost" of $50-100. Unfortunately, T-Mobile has zero coverage in my office so probably better just waiting till BF and hope that there is a deal.

Did Mint always charge a recovery fee? I'd rather not pay another $18, but for the price, it's about the same I'd get from Bestbuy after trade-in, except with Mint I get to keep my current Pixel 6 as a backup

I ported about a week ago, brought my old one with me. Mint is letting me get a new one for $399. Just log in with your account and check under

Phone > Deals
Would it be possible to sign up for service, and then purchase the phone for $399 separately?
It would potentially allow some of us to double dip on the Amex offers available...

My son has mint mobile with the pixel 6a. I want to get my mom on that plan as well but want to give the new pixel 9 to my son and give the older pixel 6a to my mom.

Does anyone know if I can just activate it and swap out the sim card?
Yes, totally

Thank you for sharing this, just was not sure if after tmobile acquire this works as tmobile has some 3 months period, if I am not mistaken, to become a new customer? So not sure how mint was affected in any way?
Can't say for sure post-acquisition, but I can't imagine they've changed that part of the business significantly since then. It was January when I did my port in/out/in shuffle.

Were you expecting not to pay tax on the $400 phone? I bet a majority of that $50 is coming from the sales tax on the phone. Were you not able to see the taxes before placing the order?

Sim is independent of phone. That sim can be activated without the phone

Anyone ever take advantage of this offer (I've seen it in the past with older Pixel releases) while already on a Mint plan? I'm on the 3 month bundle. I'm not really sold on their service yet but would try this for the phone alone. I'm just not sure how to port out and then in again, as I'm hoping to keep my number. TIA
I see on the website that you can get the phone for $400 with an existing account. So essentially you're just not getting the 6 months free.

I have done this before, about 2 years ago. I ported out for 30days to boost, then ported back in without any issues. I have heard that you can do it for shorter but cannot verify that.
I did the same last year to get the Pixel 7 Pro for under $300. Also got an extra Motorola G Stylus phone in the deal for $40 total when I went to Boost for a month.
