I'm not sure if this unit has this, but one cool thing on the RTL515 is the tail light flashes more prominently to cars as they get closer to you, which might (just maybe) get their attention if they don't already see you.
I assume this is on sale because there's a new version somewhere in the pipeline. That's normally what Garmin does and it might be to your advantage to wait unless you really want the camera features now.

This guys likes the Garmin, mostly because of the radar

the new fly6 pro supports 4k (== read license plates) and is $349

I ride with a mirror, no problem with situational awareness, ride handling. But I've always been wondering about having that rear recording should I need it.

The radar part of the RCT715 or RTL515 makes a huge difference if you're riding on the road near traffic. Paired with a bike computer like a Garmin Edge (it also works with a smartphone and their app), it gives you visual and audio indications of rear approaching vehicles. Once the vehicle passes, it also provides indication it's all clear.
I've had 3 approaching vehicles come up from behind me and all showed up on the radar/bike computer. Sure, you can use utilize a mirror but unless you look at the mirror, you don't know if a vehicle or multiple ones are approaching. Some electric and hybrid vehicles makes almost no noise these days. The RCT715 although isn't perfect, it's a good blend of features.

The cyclist camera space is ripe for disruption. Wish Wahoo would come out with a good option.
