Yeah, spending $1000+ at these type of robot, getting broken down after 12 months, send in repair service for $100 shipping cost (yeah they DO NOT cover shipping)...after the warranty, the robot will be breaking down soon , the repair cost = repair cost at least $100-200/repair + $50-100 shipping cost

These robot are money pit blackhole!

Purchased! It came out to $1033 with tax for me in SoCal with 10% teacher discount, had $46 in Roborock points from purchasing S7 MaxV Ultra 2 years ago (which is still going strong, has been a beast), and also got 6% cashback from a popular cash back site. So, grand total with getting like $59 cash back from another website comes out to $974! Will try and sell my old S7 MaxV Ultra for like $500 on Facebook marketplace. Also, put the purchase on my Amex Platinum to get extra year extended warranty, just in case, although I doubt I will need it since my old vacuum is still going strong. This is a GREAT DEAL!!!!

their trade in program is crap. If I trade in my unit it's 1599 with 5-600 trade credit or I can buy the new unit outright for 1099. Makes no sense.
Yep, I just chatted with them and they confirmed that "trade-in promotions are different." So there's absolutely no reason to trade in my S7 MaxV for "580+200" just to pay $1800 full price for the S8 MaxV.

I've owned 4 Roborock vacuums over the years and haven't had problems with any of them. Perhaps I'm lucky, but I've been very impressed with their quality and capability (hence the reason I keep giving them my money).

As far as the cost, I agree that it's expensive, but you can't just look at the straight up cost to determine it's value. You have to factor in your time saved and money saved in other areas. Let's assume you make $80/hour at your job, whatever it may be, which may equate to around $60 after taxes. So, every hour that you can save on cleaning and spend working instead is another $60 in your pocket. That would mean that if you spend an hour a week vacuuming, this robotic vacuum cleaner could pay for itself in about 20 weeks or 5 months. This doesn't factor in non-monetary factors such as extra time with kids or other family, which is invaluable in my opinion.

Alternatively, a lot of people hire cleaning/maid services in my area to come in and dust/mop/vacuum/wash windows, etc. A typical service once a week runs about $140-150. If you can direct them to spend more time on window cleaning, bathroom cleaning, dusting, etc. and not worry about vacuuming/mopping, it may be money well spent again. Each person is different, but to me the vacuum is worth the asking price, especially on sale like this.

Asked this in a different thread, but does owning one of these actually remove the need to sweep/mop completely? Or do you guys find yourselves doing a cursory cleaning in addition to running the bot?
Mopping - I have to spot clean bad spots occasionally (dried canned pumpkin), but for the most part the mopping is sufficient for me.
No issues at all with the vacuuming and I have a german shepherd and 2 cats.

According to this reviewer, S8 vacuuming capabilities are worse than the S7 line due to dual rollers which create a large gap and reduces the pressure (?) of the vacuum.

I have an S7 which has been working well, I was hoping to upgrade to the S8 MaxV for object detection but now torn since I don't want to downgrade on vacuuming itself

I don't know for sure but this model has LIDAR, that's the MAXV benefit. I think as far as obstacle avoidance goes that's as good as it gets currently.
All models have lidar, this one has an RGB camera in addition to lidar.

Does anyone have experience with Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra vs eufy Robot Vacuum Omni S1 Pro? With the current promotion, Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is a better deal than the Omni S1 Pro. I was hoping it would be on sale too to match the S8 MaxV Ultra. Would you hold off purchasing the S8 MaxV Ultra, hoping that the Omni S1 Pro goes on sale around Black Friday? I was set on the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra until I read reviews, reporting that the Omni S1 Pro has one of the best mopping systems currently available. Would appreciate any feedback/thoughts/comments. Thanks

If you're military, government, medical, or education you can stack the id.me discount. For military I got $109 off making it $990 total + tax.
Thanks, this worked perfect

Are you able to turn off the mopping fuction? Also, are there bags or is there a dust container it loads to?

You don't need to run mopping function, can just do vacuum. You just select within the app what you want. Yes, it empties into disposable bags you can buy on Amazon for cheap.
