They defy fad/trend cycles. I can't explain it either, but my kids love them and the stock is a long-term hold for me…
The fact that their normal MSRP is pushing $50 is nuts, though. Even Marshalls carries them at $25-$30 in limited colors.

I wear these around the house or in the yard. I kind of hate how the tread wears out on them and they become a slip and slide once they're wet but at this price whatever...

I think for people who are small, light, and/or not super active, they're a nice option.
The only ones that ever worked for me were the Santa Cruz canvas Crocs, which actually resemble real shoes, but they all wear out pretty quickly. That's why I like them for kids, they're buying new shoes every few months anyway…
