I kinda get what you mean though.
I feel the same way on what people pay for some pricey Atmos soundbar!
I would avoid Pioneer Elite though. I owned an LX505 for about 2 years and it's been a total pain with HDMI handshake issues, IR sensor not working, and most recently it fully died. Pioneer customer service said it wasn't covered by their warranty. I took it back to Best Buy and had to firmly discuss with them that it has a 3 year warranty and they finally took it back for service, where it couldn't be fixed. I got a Denon and my eyes have been opened. No more weird handshake HDMI issues with my Nvidia Shield, Xbox, Switch, etc. to the receiver, everything just works perfectly.
On top of that though, if you look for technical reviews that measure the power output, SNR, etc. the LX505 puts out a terribly low amount of power. Here's one link [audiosciencereview.com]. I would bet the LX805 is using similar amplifiers. I'd avoid it at all costs at any price.
Not speaking for the HDMI issues, I would have to disagree that the 805 suffers from the same "limp mode" as the 505. Using the RZ70 as a proxy for the 805, Gene from Audioholics raved about the AVR's audio performance and didn't experience the power limiting from the likes of the 505, RZ50, 7100, etc. Having said that, if the RZ70 and 805 were the same price, I'd get the Onkyo instead.

If you have no brand preference, this is a lot of value for the price!
Another issue. Every 10 minutes or so. The video goes to static. I'm either returning it or asking for an exchange. Not sure if I will even bother with tech support.
