I was sad I missed the last sale on it and had been watching out for it again. Picked one up after heavily debating this and the denon x4800h. I think this one is a better deal with separated channels and that it includes dirac live. Plus the balanced line outs are nice.
Wow..phenomenal deal

Its sister unit that shares its underpinnings was called the Best AVR under $3K
https://www.audioholics.com/av-re...-tx-rz70-1

I say its the best under $3500

Dirac on board at no charge and DLBC optional
Based on the power ratings..this should handle the larger rooms without breaking a sweat at ear splitting levels....

I wish Amir had tested one of these...I bet it would pass and it would be nice to have that as another feather in this units cap of unparalleled performance for the dollar
It's BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let the debate begin round II....

ZK Electronics gives the Pioneer a 95/100 and the Denon a 93/100: https://www.zkelectronics.com/com...vsx-lx805/

Tempting but really overkill for a 5.1.4 setup.

Not really. A lot of factors go into it besides just how many channels you're using. I'd say for anyone not running a separate amp for their fronts benefit without even any other considerations.

If the LX-505 hits $650 again, it might be the one you are looking for. I bought that for my living room and have been pretty happy, the LX-805 is for my basement home theater where I wanted a larger feature set, more channels and more power!

Model seems list a beast. Does this have that same single crossover frequency limit as the LX-505 model?

No. This model can be set for individual crossovers.

Well it's back down to $1499!
If you have no brand preference this offers a lot of value for the cost.
11 internal 140 watts channels, Dirac Live included & option to DLBC, 2 independent sub outs with two others that run parallel.

I'll head over to the AVS forum eventually, but what are good multiroom options these days if I wanna stream Spotify/FLACs/etc without using Sonos/Bose crap? I've been very disappointed in my overpriced-for-the-fidelity Sonos system and will be looking elsewhere in the future.

Agree plenty of other less expensive receivers that offer the same this does for 9 channels!

Power can easily be mitigated especially if not all your speakers are full range/inefficient.

I bought it the first time around and in my opinion it's overkill for a medium sized room. The power on this was way too intense and heart pounding even at low volume levels. Also even after Dirac the sound was flat and well - boring. I adjusted curves and all that. Now I know every room tells a different story - maybe this would sound lovely in someone else's listening space. But for me it went back. The 505 has a way better sound in my opinion but when you have atmos speakers that require a high crossover you're pretty much stuck with that with the global crossover. That is my gripe about the 505. The 805 is a completely different sounding AVR than the 505. I don't know what pioneer was thinking when they released the 805. Although individual crossovers were a plus.

I bought this the first time around and ended up returning it. I could never get the volume until i turned it up over 60%. I dont know if the machine was defective? My current Yamaha RX-675 is louder at a lower level than this was. I tried Dirac/Auddesy etc for over two weeks and it never made a difference.
This is a beast and weighs a ton, not sure why it didnt push the volume I needed on my 5.1.4 system.
