If you want pokemon, this is a reasonable set and that is a good price for low volume. Temportal is on the lower end of current sets though. If you want pokemon you should be buying full booster boxes in the 95 to 105 shipped price range from a card shop online for 36 packs and just dole them out slowly rather than buying single sleeved packs. If you want 5 packs as a little treat for the kids or yourself this is a fine buy.

This is about as cheap as it gets for single packs, the deal is definitely awesome.

In terms of cards you can pull, Crown Zenith ($4.40/pack on tcgplayer) and some of the other editions are better but at this price you are getting 50% more cards than buying those other editions.

Walmart has booster boxes for both these sets and Paradox Rift for just under $100. Note they are all third party sellers though, just fulfilled by Walmart.

Best Buy also has sleeved Battle Styles for $4 a pack (max 5) which seems pretty decent for such an older set.

My son just starting to get into pokemon (12 years old) cards. He kept asking me what sets to buy if you're a collector. I have zero clues. Any recommendations?

Look at tcg player and look at the card lists of the expansions and then look to see which expansion has the cards you really want. 151 is still really hot right now, hard to find on shelves. Crown zenith making a comeback. Evolving skies(cries).

Not sure how legit some of the TikTok pokemon shops are but I'm about to test it. They have some etb's for 30 dollars. Not great sets but 30 dollars nonetheless.
