Secondipity's great, just got a pair of Sony earbuds from them a few days ago, but I'd buy through eBay in order to get the 2-year Allstate warranty.

Don't buy the xm4 earbuds. They sound fantastic, but they're almost guaranteed to have the famous xm4 battery drain issue, and they won't be warrantied.
Most likely, these are the defective ones that Sony took back when fulfilling their own warranty, then liquidated those to Secondipity.
Don't get me wrong though, literally everything else Sony I've gotten from Secondipity might as well have been new.

Bought the XM5 headphones the last time it was posted with supplier by Secondipity and came in new condition, with OEM headphone case. Just the shipping box was brown box.

Do the XM4 and XM5's headband break all apart like the XM3's did after a few months?
My xm3 is several years and I have no issues with it breaking. Creaks like hell though.

I have wh1000xm4 . Is the XM5 worthy of upgrade ? Mainly looking at ANC and comfort while wearing it while lying down.

I got a good deal on WH-1000XM5 in their last sale. But I couldn't stand wearing it for more than half hour - the headband was hurting the top of my head. XM4 never did that.
But it was a quick and painless return experience.
Thumb up for Secondipity.
Thumb down on XM5 if you have big head. (I suspect stretching the earcups outward pulls down the headband too much.)

I don't and haven't owned them, but I thought I read that was fixed with a firmware update. Maybe someone who does have them can confirm.
I read that it didn't help, some people actually downgraded firmware to older versions that worked better. But the problem is the faulty firmware actually damaged the batteries so an update won't fix that. Only future damage.

I tried 2 of the Sony Linkbud S and both would cut in/out at my gym. After some research reading other people's experience it seems like it is common in crowded areas to get Bluetooth interference. I wanted to give them a try because someone here said the quality was nearly as good as the XM4 but cheaper at $50. So don't buy those. Other than that they were super comfortable. I might give it a try on the XM4 or 5.
I get very occasional cutting at the gym with those but it was tolerable. Even more mild if you "prioritize connection" in the app

There is a known uneven battery drain issue with the xm4 earbuds. Worth considering

This is true. I was impacted this by. I would imagine that the refurb units are likely due to this, so maybe it has been addressed? Or if they are at least replacing the batteries on these refurbs they should be good.

Otherwise, it is pretty easy fix if one is up to the challenge. The battery kit is $25 on Amazon and the only other thing you need is a blow dryer. I fixed mine this way while watching an episode of DS9. I love these buds and fixing them for $25 is way better deal than having to buy them again.

Having had 2 pairs of the XM4's and now on a pair of the XM5's, save your money and get the 4's. The noise canceling mode on the 5's is much, much worse. Yes it blocks loud noises, but for some reason Sony designed the 5's to let lower volume ambiant noises through.

With the 4's I can only hear someone talking if I don't have anything playing. With the 5's I can hear everything somebody is saying in the next room. I sit in the parking lot in the morning with the windows down and I can clearly hear tire road noise from traffic on the street almost like the ambiant noise mode was turned on. My XM4's never did that.

Sony released a software update maybe 2 years ago that somehow screwed up the batteries in the XM4's, probably over volting the battery during charging to decrease charging time. This update took several months for the batteries to be noticeably damaged so the damage was long past done before Sony realised what happened and patched it. They have been RMA'ing the XM4's out of the warranty period to keep customers happy so there are a LOT of refurb units with replaced batteries out there.

I hate to be a downer but i originally had the WF XM4 for a year and then I bought the cheaper Link Buds S. Surprisingly, I prefer the Link Buds S because it is lighter and fits my ear better. Noise cancelling is on par. I also bought the WH XM4 because it is more portable than the WH XM5. Yes, everything was bought from Secondipity.

Having run into the battery issue on my XM4's, there's no way I would buy these with only a 90 day warranty. If Secondipity's eBay store matched their own prices I might think about it because of the 2 year warranty.

I had the same issue with the linkbuds S from secondipity so I returned them. They just randomly cut out no matter what pocket I had the phone in.
