Aren't 13th and 14th gen Intel CPU messed up? Lots of reports of instability and other issues to the point that Intel has to extend warranties.

Puget has published their failure rates and claim their high end ryzens have a higher rma for failure. The key is to control heat , and stay conservative on power profiles. It's still going to outperform old chips.edit. I suspected these failures during torture testing were highly played up In The press. You are still talking about chips that are in far more machines than amd.
That report should be taken with a grain of salt as it's only one computer maker with smaller volume.

Do some more reading. It's early but the microcode fix seems fine and everyone gets an extra 2 yrs warranty to boot.

fine everyone that looks at this thread has fair warning. If you want to look at it with a bit more scientific eye, from the video you posted, the oxidation issue has not been confirmed when exactly it was solved but it was solved before the end of 2023. If your chip was made after 23 then you are unaffected. The 14th gen has not shown the oxidation issues, though most agree it could be affected. Oxidation was in more of the early 23 13th gen.

The microcode fix turned out to not affect performance in most situations. But I would agree with you if you want a set it and forget it setup, then dont bite. From what I read online the microcode fix plus a very small undervolt leads to tolerable temps and no crashes.

Most people dont want to gamble on this but you have to agree, it is powerful setup for cheap.

Does this have PCIe 5.0 with the NVMe gen 5 support too? All I see is storage at gen 4 Pcie support for nvme. I don't mind foregoing support for a gen 5 pcie graphics cards

Yes. There is manufacturing flaw in these that is not fixable (intel 13th and 14 gen oxidation) , resulting in failures and fire. It is an unprecedented disaster for Intel and everyone from private to business, and government users. Everyone is talking about this on the tech side. These should be avoided; frankly, these shouldn't be for sale. If intel answers for this, the losses will be huge.
These short videos talk about the issue:

Pass. I have this chip and it does get hot for no reason. My 360 aio constantly ramps up and down and it's annoying. I don't game, just web browse. I have a 12700k that doesn't have this issue. I recommended that to non-hardcore gamers and everyone else.

Why do u have a 14th gen i7 for web browsing? Makes no sense unless someone gifted it to you. You could sell it and get something else.

If this is how they are react to this kind of problem, I'd stay away from them but maybe that's just me.
