After the recent app update Sonos experience is absolutely terrible. Do your research and understand what you're getting into if you're new to the ecosystem. Sonos of old days is no more - at least in my experience.

Just google it. I own around 20 sonos speakers spread over 9 different zones. After the recent update, volume randomly goes to 100%, music keeps playing while app shows nothing, missing features. Event the CEO of the company is taking about the software problems https://www.sonos.com/en-us/blog/...-sonos-app

I install stuff like this for a living and some of those Sonos systems work without any issue but there's more and more new stuff out of the box that won't sync together. The soundbar will work, the sub will act up and won't connect to create a surround sound system, while the speakers will lose connection. The app will play music and show nothing is playing, then will give an error saying that the system can't process request. There is a situation when the music will play for 5 sec and switch to the next song, another 5 sec and switch to the next, etc. I spend countless of hours on the phone with Sonos and every time I hear it's the wifi issue. I have replaced multiple wifis just to get the same issue a month later or 2. These days when one of my customers asks about Sonos I tell them to choose another system Wmii is a good option and it's half priced.

Some people are having issues with their systems because of the app. However, from the ones I read on groups, it seems like most of the ones with issues have multiroom and multiple speaker setups. I have the arc, sub, and rears. I have not had any issues for the last 2.5 - 3 years. Funny thing is most sonos fanboys will say it's your wifi setup to blame. I suppose for some that maybe true ymmv.

I still would repurchase my setup today if I had not already owned it. Sounds great.

Heads did roll, 100 innocent employees got laid off while the CEO, who made the decision, gets to keep his job. Sales have dried up and their stock completely tanked. It's shocking that the board is keeping this hack around. This is not his first screw up either. All to rush some headphones nobody wanted to market.

I have Arc / Sub 3.0 / 2 x Era 300 set up as a surround sound system, and if you just use the speakers as such the problems are minimal. The system components will randomly drop out of the app, system updates are pretty rocky, and streaming music is frustrating at time (maybe all the time, but I don't stream music very often), but none of these problems interfere with the system working as a badass wireless surround sound for movie/TV watching.

The only time I use it now is to set up something new or to re-trueplay a room. Still a great system If you know what to expect

These are going out of business sales, I wouldn't touch Sonos anymore.

Every time I move I have to set up my speakers again,, they will all be bricks when Sonos goes out of business.

This or the Samsung q990d for $900 that was on woot? Ordered the q990d based on consumer reports and rtings all rating it as the best soundbar setup but would love to hear from actual audiophiles!
