I also wish it could accommodate thick phone protective cases. Some reviews online have trouble with fitting the camera section of the phone with a slim case on. Or a phone with a camera that sticks out too much. It's a hassle having to take the case on and off plus sometimes it slowly damages the case as you take it off repeatedly.
I think some of the reviews mentioned no headphone jack port. So that may turn off some people but it definitely has blue tooth of course.
I currently have a razer kishi controller and you can remove these rubber pads where the phone rests inside and actually allow some phones with thicker cases to fit in much better. Unfortunately it doesn't have Bluetooth so you cannot pull the controls apart and use them separately or off the phone.
It would just be nice to have Bluetooth for times when you don't want to hold the phone and controllers together. Plus it would also be nice if you could use each Bluetooth controller separately for two players.
I'm on the edge about picking it up it looks very nice though... kind of want to get it but I don't know....

Try plugging the USB c charging cable first before connecting the kishi to your phone.
You can also try going to settings - connected devices - and try switching which device controls who. Or if you have the option try turning on which device charges who.
Those are my two work arounds so far. It might just be a software issue?
The main thing I liked about the kishi is that you can remove the rubber inserts to fit a thicker phone.
I think I'd get the turtle of it was a little cheaper. But I guess I was asking for a lot since it's a $100 item.
Do you have a Motorola phone?

Pretty disappointed in it, even with modified padding for iPhone camera cutout, it doesn't feel very snug or secure. On top of that the right controller will randomly disconnect thru gaming sessions. Then you have to turn off both, and reconnect them again, often multiple times. Updated the firmware and the issue still persists. Might as well just use Bluetooth an actual Xbox controller with a clip or get one that connects thru the USB-C port.

I'm tempted but I have the Ipega and a no-name similar clamp-on controller, I just don't need more crap cluttering up my home.
Port is a common thing then Bluetooth is a much better option. I just wish the fitting was better for phones with thicker cases. Thanks for letting me know about that issue!

I previously had the original Razer Kishi and it convinced me never to use these closed frame controllers again. I couldn't use it with my Fold 3 when I had it. It worked with my Note 10+, but I had to take the case off each time to use it.
Problem solved.
They even make magnetic adapters so there's no risk of damaging the port.

Also I can use the controller separately, kind of like detached Joy-cons. Very handy.
