I've had the OP12 since February and it has been great. However there has been a noticeable lag when switching between some apps, giving a solid 2 second pause before being able to interact/scroll. This was introduced in a software update earlier this year and still hasn't been fixed even though there have been 2 or 3 software updates since the bug was introduced.

OnePlus 13 is rumored to be announced in November. Unless you need this right now, I'd just wait for that announcement as prices will go down more after the announcement. Also, with the iPhone 16 and Samsung 25 series announcements coming up in Sept and Jan respectively, this may not be the best time to buy a new phone unless you are getting an amazing deal.

You may want to change the title, doesnt show model and can be confused with Oneplus 16 wich doesnt exist

Anyone know if the "Trade in Any device, Any Condition ($100)" will be there for long. The contract for my phone is up early next year. And I plan on switching to Google Fi and then get 12R/13R. I have a busted old iPhone 6 laying around and thinking out getting rid of it. Getting 13R next year w/ this trade in would be ideal.
Y you don't need to trade in a phone. It's just free $100

OnePlus is done as a brand. If you're going to spend over $500 on a phone make it a Samsung or Pixel.
From my point of view, it is trying to compete in both sector. Both high-end and mainstream. That's why there is the R version of it. I think it's not feature competitive enough on the high-end sector. But the mainstream R version is not as bad. Looking back there have always been sub $500 version of a phone that's not junk. And I think they have reduce the cost of BOM where users will accept. Seriously, stuff like using previous year high-end processor and not using glass back to reduce the cost and pass it on to consumer is much more acceptable than reducing the screen quality. Sure as a brand, it's not competing enough at high-end, but I think it's doing well as mainstream brand.

Again, it's a busted iPhone 6. Why keep it around instead of disposing it properly and getting $100 in exchange?

It's a great phone unless you don't care about camera I had and sold it , the UI too it's not old OnePlus it's fully oppo UI no more CyanogenMod inspired oxygen OS
You do realized that CM no longer exist. CM have been retired 7 years ago and you want OnePlus to have a UI that's inspired by almost decade old UI?

To me, the benefit of OnePlus over Samsung is that it's more open and even after OnePlus stop updating it, you can easily switch to LineageOS. I know it's a different point of view, but it is something to consider as well.
The OnePlus 12 isn't officially by LineageOS though. It was one of the main reasons why I didn't get the 12 with the backpack offer.

There are people with the phone now iirc. The issue is that no devs interested in developing owned the device. If you buy one and donate, then yeah people would've had ROMs months ago. Even my Z3 play and v30 have A13/14.

So long as people are willing to maintain official it'll come. But official takes time. Unofficial is generally made by the same people.

Adding to that, have you seen the list of official LOS OnePlus devices? Almost every generation of devices are there.

PS: Thinking about it, why aren't phone reviewers donate the phone to LOS devs if they get those phones for free?

Is it worth it to get the OnePlus watch 2R for $145, or does it ever go on sale for less than that. I don't need one I just kind of wanted to check out a smartwatch.

My GF and I have the Oneplus 12, she has the 12R 16 / 256 and I have the Oneplus 12. Between the two phones, you cannot tell any difference, I know, I've spent a lot of time on both of them. The only difference is the 12 has wireless charging and a telephoto lens, and gen 3, but there is not any noticeable difference between gen 2 and gen 3. Also, there are not many real world use case scenarios where you're zooming in for slightly better detail in photos. We went to Estes Park for vacation and I used my telephoto zoom, and she used her digital zoom, and it was hard to spot the difference between our cameras photo wise. The wireless charging would be nice, IF ... you really needed it and you don't. These batteries are huge and last us easily 1.5 days with heavy usage. The rapid charging is stupid fast. 80% battery in 10 - 12 minutes from 1 - 5%. We found her 12R 16/256 new in box on eBay for a little over $400+ ... if you can get the 12R 16/256 for under $500, that's the better recommendation and option. People that disagree with me and want to spend the $770 with tax because of numbers / features, but no real world use experience, are just novice casual rookie buyers and consumers in general. That's how I feel about it. Watch the 12R videos, you will be shocked at how many people are calling this the best phone of 2024. I 100% agree.

Doss it perform the same as the S24 ultra?
Yep, it performs the same. Feels quicker than the Ultra even.

The only thing missing is Ultra Wideband, but unless you have a specific need for it like a digital car key, it's not widely used yet. NFC and tap payments work fine.

They both use the Snapdragon Gen 3 so performance is very similar. Samsung's Snapdragon is supposedly custom, but there is no noticeable difference.

this vs the s24+ deal?
Better take a listen to the speakers of the 24plus before buying. Some of the worst on the market. Go to GSMArena and compare to the Samsung 23 fe or the apple 15 pro. You'll change your mind fast

Thanks for the review. I've been trying to decide between the 12 or 12R. Would it be nice to get the free ear buds? Yes. Do I really need them? Not really, as I only use ear buds for phone calls and hardly ever listen to music, podcasts, or play games. I have an old Windows phone I can send in for another $100 off. The 12 would cost about $300 more. Is it worth that much more? As you said, probably not. My last 3 OP phones have been the top models but with the new 12R it doesn't look like I need to go that route and save that money. worship
