Don't buy this... I purchased this during prime day and the little plastic hooks (third photo) break off leaving the entire tower stack useless.

You have been warned

Check out Dollar tree, it would be $6.25 for 5 of those pots.

Yes, yes and yes. The dollar tree versions are the way to go. Most likely cannot find them now as it is seasonal, but definitely start checking in store for them in March.

Toss some rocks in to keep the base from moving.

I got one of these last year and used it this summer. It is fine for what it is. I used it for salad lettuce up on my deck and put it on a wheeled plant stand so I could get sun to all sides or move it when needed.(there are other option out there that have the wheeled base already) Since it was up high on the deck I didn't have a slug issue. It is not real sturdy so if you have kids or dogs that knock things over, not a good fit. I did not start seed in it but transplanted aero-garden starts into it.

It looks as though the dollar tree ones are 6" with 3 sections vs these which are 12" with 4, and don't come with a saucer. One of the reviews says they changed and aren't as good as they used to be.

Yes! The dollar tree has 2 sizes. I bought the big ones last year for my seedlings.

I never had it break off, but it really underperformed despite rave reviews. Planted strawberries and herbs in the pockets, which should be perfect for the size and placement, and on average about half seemed to die, with the ones that lived not giving as much as plants in just normal small ground level pots. Eventually gave it a really good cleaning and donated it.
