Readywise Pro meals are worth trying, but these lower end meals are terrible. They may keep you alive but you may wish you didn't make it.

Any recommendations for 3 people, a week or 10 days worth? There are so many options, I don't know where to start.

What's the appeal here? It's only 2 days worth of food. Soup on sale is $1 a can. Tuna, the same, Etc. I'm all for being prepared but how is this prepping you for another, other than regret for wasting your money?
The theory is something like this (especially dehydrated) is going to be much lighter, smaller, easier to store, transport, won't rust, dent, freeze etc under rough handling or in poor conditions. You throw it in your trunk / boat / leave at a cabin and only need to worry about it every decade or so. A can of soup or tuna....not so much. And god forbid you forget to replace or rotate stock or you just wasted all that saved money or have to eat food that might make you sicker than just being a little hungry.

Now a can of soup or tuna is ready to eat though. Also they are likely part of your diet already so you can just store more assuming you are planning on staying put wherever you food is during said unknown disaster (which might force you to leave). Long term food and can goods both have their place for 'preps.'

To me the real question is how important is food for 48 hours if you don't have a safe way to get water? Water is critical but over two days most people can easily skip 6 meals without losing much physical or mental ability. Without hydration you are darn near worthless after a single day.

I think you may need to take math class or common sense class again.

1 year = 365 days x 3 meals per day = 1,095 meals. Do you really think you can even come CLOSE to that many meals for $40? 4 cents per meal?

Perhaps the safest country in the world, is also the most scared country in the world. People! Please, let's stop imagining crazy scenarios offered by fictional stories. If I need this, ever, I'd rather be dead.

So for the next earthquake or natural disaster, you'd just like to be dead? I'd rather be prepared for a natural disaster and survive.

I hear ya. I understand the general idea. But 2 days of food just seems silly. You're not going to die if you don't eat for 2 days. Prep for 10 days, 20 days, or more? Sure. But two days @ $20 is a waste and a false sense of security.

I agree with you on the two days is probably not worth worrying about. If you don't have that much food on hand already and the zombies don't go away after the 49th hour....you weren't going to make it regardless Wink

Or just choose to live where there aren't any region-wide natural disasters.

So, avoid places with earthquakes, hurricanes, winter snow storms, massive river flooding, and wild fires. I can't think of any other region wide natural disasters.

Got mine on the 11th. The "kitted on" day is 05/12/2021. The meals have a best by date of 2035-2036. The bananas were both 09/19/2023. Not going to leave those in with the rest so I'm snacking on them.

The bag is pretty decent. Much more robust than the ones Aldi had a little while back but doesn't feel as sturdy as the Earth-Pak I've used.
