Also, wanted to add you can check pricing and inventory on the Costco app. Should look something like this from this thread. https://slickdeals.net/f/17709738

If I'm not mistaken like the last clearance price its reflected across all states. I'm seeing some stores showing $899.97 still on the app inventory checker, but on Same Day Delivery or the Costco website it isn't showing any stock for those stores which leads me to believe no stock left or a display is showing.

Great price. Not sure if the price will drop further or not.
Last year C3 was ~$400 via Same-Day Delivery

OK - so this is a follow up to my experience and comments I made on the previous thread about this costco 48" OLED TV deal when the deal was $900.

This whole time, I thought I missed out on this awesome price reduction because all my local Costcos near me, according to their website (and there are quite a few of them in my Sacramento area) showed all "out of stock in warehouse" while only a couple said, "delivery available" only. I assumed Loomis, CA store, where I bought my from, was now out of stock, especially because I saw it listed as "low stock" shortly after I purchased mine and then a few days later eventually become "delivery available" only.

But on a whim, I decided to stop by the Loomis store today to see if they'd price match it anyway even if it was out of stock in warehouse and to my surprise, despite Costco's website saying only "delivery available" at Loomis, it turns out they actually did have some in-stock in the warehouse! 4 of them (and maybe they have more in the back? who knows)!

So not only did I go get my original purchase price adjusted to $700, I went ahead and got another TV to see if there's any difference in off-angle green tinting as my original one clearly had. Also, my original also has one dead pixel... but it's in the corner where your eye wouldn't catch it so normally I don't mind, but hey, if I can get one without... why not, right? Furthermore, on my original TV purchase, the guy actually removed my 3 year extended Allstate warranty because he was confused by it and thought I had to pay in addition to the $900 asking price, not understanding it was supposed to be free and he was supposed to supply the coupon code to make that promotion happen (the CS person said everyone's new at Loomis so it's an understandable mistake).

Well anyway, now I have two TVs to compare! -- I can say this: The off-angle green tinting is exactly the same with the new one (both manufactured date 4-24). 😔 But I'm happy to report no dead pixels. 😊 But one thing that immediately caught my attention, the new TV seemed noticeably dimmer than my original, despite setting everything identical and re-calibrating Windows HDR!

I couldn't believe it. I was going over everything over and over again, just to see if maybe, maybe there's just some setting I must've missed. But get this, over the course of the couple hours I was futzing around with it, the picture starting getting ever-so-slightly brighter and brighter, imperceivable minute by minute but eventually, I just noticed, "hey my windows background picture doesn't look so dark anymore!" It's almost like a super slow gamma-shift really - best way I can describe it. A "break-in period", if you will.

Yes, I immediately googled if a "break-in" of OLED TVs was actually a thing and the reddit threads I came across seemed to be mixed, with many people claiming there is one and many people saying that's BS, that there is no break-in period for OLEDs. 🤷 Well my original TV has 60hrs according to the TV's menu and this new TV that I'm now typing this out on, which appears to have "broken-in" to similar brightness level as my original, has reached ~2hrs (a rather quick break-in, if that's what it even is).

So let this be a warning to those who immediately packed it up and returned it because you thought it was too dim, you may have effed up! It apparently needs a couple hours to warm up, break in, whatever you want to call it. Anyway, I'll be returning my original TV and now have the peace of mind of no dead pixels & knowing the green tinting is exactly the same - no lingering "what ifs" or apparent panel lottery to win here... and now I have my proper 5 year warranty. All for an outstanding price comparatively to anything out there!

If you're near the Loomis Costco, get 'em while they're hot. Actually, regardless of where ever you are, I'd disregard anything the Costco website says - you just need to go there... or at least give them a call and have them check the floor for you. I know some people oddly particularly hate when others return stuff but maybe this experience helps someone else. 🤷 Either way, I'm happy now.

TLDR: Off angle Viewing creates bad green tint. Not ideal as a monitor for color critical work or viewing.

Thanks tcramer for the heads up that there were a few left in stock. I went to the Madison location just before close Sunday evening, there were 3 left, and I'm glad that was the case because I bought one at the $899 deal that was posted a little while ago and since it was in stock I was able to get a price adjustment from Costco and $211 back on my card. I purchased mine as a monitor, and it's great as a TV, I have a 55" 2018 A or B eco model, which is good but shows some signs of wear and uniformity issues on dark grey images, I have been using the 55" 2018 as a TV and as a mac mini monitor to do photo editing. This 48" C4 seemed like a decent option to use as a dedicated work computer, and I purchased it as an ideal way to display my images at events or trade shows. The smaller size I thought would look better up close as the pixels would be smaller and less noticeable to someone who might want to walk right up to the TV. It also has the advantage of as fast 120hz refresh rate, over my old TV which topped out at 60hz, and the C4 has the ability to use Calman Home for LG to calibrate it for HDR content if I should so choose to do so in the future. My 2018 model wasn't eligible for Calman for LG they only work on 2019 and newer models.

The big issue I have with this 48" C4 is there's a big shift in color when viewing the TV from any angle that's not straight on. I have the TV about 4 feet in front of me as a large desk monitor and there's a visible green shift from the dead center once you start moving to towards the edge. Only 1/3 of the screen in the middle is color accurate after being color calibrated. The other 2/3s of the screen are visibly green shifted. If I move my head around and look at the white screen page or the light desktop background I get color shifts to green anywhere that's not dead center. There's an area in the middle that's either perceptually magenta due to there being a green cast everywhere, or my calibration wasn't great, because it was picking up a little green on from the edge pixels on the calibration device. I think this is the case, because the dead center image I opened in photoshop did have a higher Red pixel brightness.

As for being able to while balance a photo by eye, this is no longer possible unless the image being edited on is placed dead center in front of me. Not the screen, but dead center in front of my eyeballs. If I shift from leaning up on one arm rest to the other on my chair that magenta circle goes with me and the rest of the screen become a vignette of green.

I colors are just wonky of center. This is really disappointing from an LG OLED especially the C4 series which is just under the flagship G4 series. Also quite surprising considering I didn't experience this issue with the 2018 entry level OLED model. Kinda wild that the newer and higher end TV would be worse in a very obvious way. It's still a good TV for contrast, color depth, color gamut, but to have a TV visibly shift to green when viewed off angle and Have it be listed at an MSRP price of over $1000 in 2024 is pretty crazy if you ask me!

As for the Images attached; I took a couple photos of my TV for this post with my Canon 5DS DSLR. I made a pure white image display across the whole TV, and took a photo with my camera settings all locked of the center of the TV and of the corner of the TV from 4 feet away. Just to restate this should anyone wonder if I didn't actually lock my settings. On my DSLR, The White Balance was Locked at 5600K (The TV is calibrated to D65K). The Cameras ISO, F stop, Shutter Speed were all locked. I took one photo straight on, and one of the corner of the TV with an 85mm Sigma Art lens, the best lens I have for color accuracy and vignetting. I opened both images in Photoshop without any adjustments and did an RGB spot sample of both images, just to show there's a measurable difference in the color of the TV, from the center of the TV to the corner. Oh and by the way, I also initially set the TV up similar to how Rtings has set up their LG OLEDs set as that gives me a pretty close to neutral white as I can get from the TV before I calibrate it with i1Profiler. The TV is very cool right out of the box. My TV is then calibrated via Xrite i1Profiler and the i1Display pro.

When I look directly at the TV from about 4 feet away it's pretty even, maybe even a little magenta colored. But when I look towards the corners with my eyes, which are now viewing the pixels off angle, the screen becomes a green tint. I want to clarify that the corners of the TV aren't green, rather, depending upon your viewing angle, the image will either be a little magenta or green. This isn't that noticeable on most TV content, since it usually is color graded for mood, not accuracy, extreme examples, Twilight, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Matrix, etc. But for those of us that think this would make a sweet monitor, well, sure for a gaming monitor it would be great. But for creatives, who might want to pair it with a mac and a wacom tablet and color grade video, adjust white balance on photos by eye, or create digital art, I'd say avoid this TV as a monitor. That's my point of posting these photos. I also just wanted to let anyone know who purchased this TV for color critical work as a display from Costco, who can still return it or haven't taken it out of the box yet, you might find it very frustrating, and I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Best of luck to anyone needing to price adjust, if you picked one up at the Madison Store, bring your receipt in the morning as there are only 3 left that I saw. They likely won't price adjust if they're out of stock. Not sure If I'll keep my TV yet, as it's not working well for me as a work monitor or as a way to display my photos, I'll think about it over the next week... Hope this post can help a few people.

Edited to add: This green cast will affect ALL colors not just white. it will be most noticeable on neutral greys mostly middle grey on up to white, not black since the OLED pixels are actually off. and it will be noticeable on skin tones that are supposed to be color accurate. You might notice the polar bears, arctic foxes, emperor penguins and David Attenborough himself looking a little green, but Neo, Trinity, and Edward Cullen you likely won't be able to notice anything. For me, having a bride's dress look green when viewed slightly off angle won't work.

All of them have the green tint if you watch them sideways. Why did you buy them? You think you'll be special?
If you sit close, then the outer edges are at an angle.

Be careful about what update you install! I'm on 03.11.05, but I read people with a newer update say the screen is dimmer. I watched an Rtings video on youtube where they're doing a 100 tv test runing them for like 16 hours a day in intervals and in one of their updates they said, one of the manufactures, I think it was Samsung, maybe Sony, or LG, put out an update, that will with the new software limit the actual brightness of the TV, this helps the TV set last longer, but is at the cost of the brightness, and they thought it was pretty shady that it's not mentioned in the update, and that it should be up the the user to limit brightness not the manufacture to force it. Apparently this is rather comon practice, put the TV out there get it's Lumens and Nits messured, then after it's been on the market for 6 months or so, push an update that dims it by 10% so it will last longer. It will no longer be as bright, and all updates going forward have that baked into the update. Honestly I'd love to see a class action lawsuit against several companies for no longer selling offering the customer the same product as what they bought. This has happened with server based games, and there's a potential EU law that might affect future game development, but there are a lot of companies out there doing a bait and switch one way or another. Same thing with read/write speeds on camera cards and SSDs. They push out a 512GB card that has a write speed of lets say 520 mb/s and is tested to hit around that. But when bought a year or 2 after it's been on the market that card is now only writing at 480 mb/s, less people doing tests on yesterday's news, so manufactures think they can get away having old reviews so prevalent on the internet and SEO that will sell a product that is no longer being scrutinized by the tech influences on youtube and blog writers, that they can now put out a product under the same brand and label at the same price, and barely anyone will check if it actually holds up to it's claims. Just do some deep research with good data before updating your TV.

I watch side way cos it's next to my pc monitor, and honestly I don't see it (I keep brightness at 50 or less ), the green tint is from the anti glare film over the screen and probably would be more visible if there is a light source reflect on the screen

So that $400 price came like almost a year after C3 was released. From that point of view, $699 is a good price for this year at least. Plus: you can buy Instacart GC from Costco 80 for 100 and purchase from Instacart, which will end up the total like $600 give or take.

Me too! My current OLED 48" set is close to me on a table by the couch so it's the perfect size TV for me.
