Costco baking soda, 12 lbs for around $7.00. Has how much to add to pool on back of package to raise alkalinity. Been using for years.. Add Costco baking soda to raise alkalinity after rain and keep chlorine at proper level, never worry about pH. Kept my pool for 30 years and never a problem.
I need chlorine back at .50-$1a pound

I've tried bags of this stuff when the pH in the pool gets low and it never seems to make a difference. Borax worked way better.

The $4.79 for 5 lbs of pH-down deal is great but on any other day I would go with HDX muriatic acid at Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-1.../206809317

I just ordered the PH down for almost twice the price 3 days ago. Today was the last day to change my subscribe and save order. So I canceled and re-ordered.
Thanx OP

Plain Arm&Hammer baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) increases alkalinity.

Adding pH Up never made sense. Pool pH naturally increases on its own if left unchecked. Chlorine is also more effective at lower pH levels (7.2 and below). And red eye irritation is caused by high pH (not low pH or high chlorine) like above 7.8+

If your pool water is acidic, then you'll want to raise the pH to ~7.4 … Acidity isn't good for pumps, heaters, plaster, etc.
