General mills has a class action against them because of cheerios. Chlormequat is the chemical found in cheerios.

I read some of the related articles. There's no solid scientific proof for a level that is unacceptable. "Detectable levels" means nothing.
Class action suits are vehicles for lawyers to make millions, and for the clients to make $1.49 (ask me). The manufacturer often pays rather than face a stretched out campaign of accusations.

Thanks OP, used the coupon on the 27oz/"Giant" size Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Confusingly, there is a "Mega" size, which is bigger than "Giant" for GM, that was a little more expensive but still 27oz. I think I discovered the shrink ray in action, as I found a different listing for "Mega" that was no longer available that was 29.1oz, so it seems they have shrunk the Mega CTC down to Giant size, but Giant hasn't shrunk yet, so they are the same weight for now.......I'd assume the other sizes will be shrinking soon 😒 . FWIW, this also applies to Honey Nut Cheerios.

There also seems to be a $10 off 35 so 8 boxes comes out to 27.92 or $3.49 a box

Because it would tell you:
12 grams of added sugar per serving (37 grams) = more than 32 % of the cereal is sugar.

Original, i.e. not Honey Nut, is less than 3% sugar.

Yeah oats are heavily treated with pesticides. It can be hard to find organic versions of oat products but it's probably worth it especially if you have kids.

Pretty much all but the original Cheerios have tons of sugar. Multi-Grain isn't terrible.

But I treat these as desserts, basically. It'll take me a good 3 weeks to get through a box of the stuff.

Similar here. Don't use the sugary ones for regular breakfasts, but for an occasional snack.

Ahh yes the "I just read an article now I need to click on this deal and try to lecture everyone" post. Never once have I ever looked to Slickdeals to educate me on how X ingredient is actually bad for me.

To be fair, in a lot of class action cases the lawyers are fronting all the expenses with no guarantee of any kind of payout at the end. They could find themselves a couple grand in the hole at the end of things, assuming they also don't get saddled with paying the legal fees of the other side. which could be in the hundreds of thousands or even millions. Not to mention the prospect of fines and professional sanctions levied by the court if they file some truly frivolous case and catch a judge on a bad day. If you read through the info they send you they say you're free to opt out of the settlement and try suing on your own most of the time. Of course then you're the one paying thousands of dollars in legal fees, unless you find someone who takes it on contingency, and then they'll take the lion's share of any winnings anyway.

Sure, they're still basically just written off as a cost of doing business by almost every major company, but that's a whole other issue.
