No, this is just the same circuitry inside multiport chargers, but in a cable instead. It can't even downgrade PD3.1(140+ watt) without having a 140 watt device connected. It's also been this price for a while.
I guess it's cool if you're stuck with a single port charger for some reason, but it would usually be a better value to just buy a multiport charger instead

got one of these for review. It's pretty awesome, except for the big nodule in the middle of the Y - makes wrapping it up hard. but otherwise, I can quick charge an iPhone and iPad at the same time. (each side of the Y can supply up to 50W ea connected to a 100+w charger, neither side will go Over 50W)

I often charge both my phones at the same time - one Pixel 6 Pro and an iPhone 13 Pro. When I get my next iPhone, I should be able to fast charge both with this cable instead of having two separate cables.
Another use case is if you have other peripherals other than your phone. IMO, lots of applicable use cases.

Would this charger work so I don't need to carry a massive charger for my power guzzling Dell Precision?

I know that the dell dock is connected via two USB C Ports. The power brick is 180w

I haven't figured out a good power solution using usb c yet.

I'm ok with slow charging just need something I can use so it doesn't die in 2 hours of regular work

Yes it will work with a 7watt or 10watt charger, it will be a trickle charge, I charged a MacBook Pro with this on a Samsung Fast charger cellphone brick. Left it over night.

One wall adapter, one cable - convenience/ease of use.

Multiport charger's going to require at least the wall adapter, the hub (and its cable), plus two additional cables.. that's not as friendly for on-the-go or in the car where you might want to charge two phones at once, or phone + laptop or whatever else

Thanks for the data point.

I'm wondering if i can use a more powerful power brick to be able use the laptop while plugged in as well

I guess so. However none of these use cases make me want to buy a $20 cable
