FYI I think they may be trying to clear out old stock that's been on the shelf for a long time. The phone arrived with a dead battery, which is a red flag, and bad for the long term battery health. I wouldn't consider this new condition. Maybe worth the gamble around ~$400 in this condition, but if the watch refund doesn't come through quickly, the phone will go back too.
Thanks for the input. People who understand batteries know that's not a good thing. It's not a big problem but it's one more thing to consider. Pixels can be hard on batteries already so starting with a gimped one from the start wouldn't help. One phone shipped like that is one thing but it would be good to know if a lot of them are like that.

Hot running phone? Then you should start killing the apps that cause it.

As for the battery range, I don't know what the right boundaries are, but tesla has done a lot of studies to learn how to manage lithium ion batteries. They've found a few things that kill them quicker, starting with running them down and charging them to full (capacity use), charging to 100% and leaving them plugged in, and charging while you're doing other things (draining while charging) is also not good.

No battery is going to last forever, but you can apparently make some positive behavioral changes to your charging patterns.
Oh, ok. Kill the 5G antenna.

I'd probably order this, return the watch, and trade in the phone for the Pixel 9 pro

Dump the phone or stop complaining about it. Those are your choices.

My pixel doesn't overheat 90+% of the time, and if it does something is wrong. It's not a perfect phone though. I've had Motos that I've liked better.

Could people who have received their phone, could you please post the model number. There's two variants of this phone. One has mmwave bands, The other does not, according to pixels spec page.

who wants to deal with contract phones? I get much cheaper unlimited plans via mint or whatever for 10-20 dollars a month and can switch as I want. I also use google voice so my main number never changes. Check the math
I have mint too and that's where I question the value in this deal.

Assumption is that you need a new phone.

My current mint family unlimited plan costs me 30 bucks per line per month.

Another 18 dollars per month over 24 months for this phone deal.

That puts me at 48 dollars a month with mint for the next 2 years.

Compare that to T-Mobile. You can tell 3x unlimited phones for 50 dollars a month.

For that 2 dollars extra you get free Netflix, free airline wifi, weekly deals, etc etc

So I'd basically be paying the same price for less perks and older phone.

Not trying to knock the deal if it's that good. Genuinely trying to understand the benefit here

Is it really risky if you can return both?

Yeah, so I just placed an order. The invoice shows both these items are billed as one and will be one shipment. I was not able to select separate delivery dates. Looks like it's a combo deal now, and everything will have to be returned for your money back. I will still go through and get delivery. I'll try to return the watch by itself. If CS says no, it'll all go back. Free returns yo!

It won't let you cancel. I ordered this morning and got the phone already, tried to cancel and it won't because it's part of a promotion.

I am trading the phone in for 699 TIV towards a Pixel 9 Fold so I could care less. However I would never lock myself into a shitty contract when I can pay almost the same amount to have freedom & flexibility to go where I want.
