Plus membership does not ship for FREE less than $50 items anymore.
(I never order over $50)
Any good reasons to continue paying for Plus?
Wouldn't regular membership be just fine then?

Sam's has same online rates as in store. I hate Costco that they jack up prices online.

Using the app is what makes Sams Club worthwhile, you just scan your items and walk out. It doesn't really matter how many people are in the store as long as I don't have to wait in line. I wish Walmart would allow that with their plus membership, but you still have to go to a checkout when you use theirs, which defeats the purpose.

It was a new membership and I also saw the offer. There is a record of where I clicked through and it says to give them a few days, so I'll wait a bit longer, but doubt I will get the credit since you had yours in five hours.
Sorry this isn't going according to plan for you. Don't give up. They kind of suck on shop cash back. You really need to keep tabs on them. I've had more shop misses than successful ones go through. Its like how mail in rebates used to be like. They're hoping you'll forget about it until it's too late.

can someone please comment what's the best approach for my situation? I signed up for regular membership right before this deal. But I feel this $50 plus membership is much better. Can I cancel and get refund for my current membership but that would make me ineligible for this deal. I may signup on my spouse name though...

I fired Sams when they stopped free shipping. I now have Walmart Plus. About the same with free shipping even for groceries. We use it to order groceries for an old lady, delivered.

Costco fanbois are the worst. I don't even know why I keep it when all I use is Sam's.

Costco is always packed and every time we go it's people standing in the middle of the aisle eating samples blocking everyone.

Costco doesn't even have order pickup?! Lmao what store doesn't have order pickup in 2024? I'm not standing in the literally 20 foot lines at Costco if I want to pick up 3-4 things, no thank you.

The plus membership gives me free medications, I feel like the prices are better, and earlier shopping hours is awesome, plus they've improved the members mark brand a lot over the years.

I agree that Members Mark is improving, but I want to add that Warehouse stores don't want you to order 3 or 4 things for order pickup. Their business model is get people in the door looking to buy 3 or 4 things hoping they will leave with a cart full of stuff.

This is why Sam's:

1. Charges a fee for curbside unless you order more than $50 or you have Plus.
2. Eliminated free shipping for under $50, even for Plus.
3. They now restrict some discounts to "scan and go only."
4. Does not reward the 2% Sam's Cash for pickup, delivery, or shipped orders. Only in store.

That's even why both stores put the water and toilet paper in the back. These are all designed to get you in the door so your 4 item list turns into a 14 item purchase.

When does this have to be activated by?

My membership ends in December but I don't know if these can stay dormant for that long without activating.

Costco has its place.. but if you don't use it, just cancel because you are wasting money on the membership fee?

I've learned NOT to go on the weekend. I found the best time to go is 30-45 minutes before closing during a week night (even Friday evenings). Hardly anyone goes at this time. Although, this could be a regional thing. I'm in Arizona. Great.. now I'm giving out my secret, and everyone will start doing it.

I'm excited about free home delivery for plus members for $50+ orders. I never have to step foot in their parking lot (even for curbside pickup orders) for weekly basics like milk, yogurt, bread, cheese, fruits, veggies, etc. Ofcourse it is awful I can't order a $6 almond butter with free shipping when I'm running low, or snag a cheap clearance item with free shipping. But the convenience of free grocery deliveries at the same price as in-club....now take that Costco!
Still need to tip the delivery person though.

Yah that's OK. The tip goes to a person in my local community. I'm not paying a giant corporation a delivery fee. I'm ok with that, even though the cash outflow is the same.

The membership is activated as soon as you buy. You cannot delay the activation

This is false, as they still check your cart before you leave.

I got Free Sam's Club membership for years from my CC, recently they changed it to $10 so, in the last 15 years of Costco membership and 5 years of Sam's we hardly go to Sam's.
Apart from branded items which are common to both Warehouses, the Costco Brand Kirkland items are far, far more superior than Sam's Club Member's mark items which sometimes are garbage. Costco has quality branded and Kirkland signature brand clothing, we also shop for the entire family for our clothing from Costco.
I usually go to Costco on weekdays between 3-4 PM or 7-8 PM, very rarely do I go during the weekend, but that is mostly between 9:30 -11 AM time frame where I can shop peacefully and I will be in and out in 30-35 mins.
Now during the last 5 years, I shopped in Sam's Club for a few items, let me tell you that you can deny it if you want, their customer service is horrible, mostly rude agents who take anywhere between 45-50 mins to process returns, every single time even when I show scan & Go receipt on their app, they couldn't find anything in their app and things needs to get escalated to Manager and then, only they take the return.
Costco Customer serive is par excellence.
The only and only good thing about Sam's is their scan-and-go app.
But, if you have to return the products which you purchase using scan & go then, be prepared to spend 45 mins.
Also, unlike Costco, Sam's Club tire center policies and people who worked there are utterly disrespectful and they always act like pimps trying to sell you new tires every time you step into their tire center. They haggled with you and a couple of times they refused to fix my flat tire and asked me to replace the tire. They never give you a pro-rate for new tires.
I will never be going to buy their tire ever again.
Costco has a system in place, you make an appointment for the tire center, go there, drop the keys, and go shopping before you even finish you will get the call that your vehicle is ready, be it a flat tire fix, tire change or anything, mostly within a time frame of 45-1 hour.

Yeah, but they scan two or three things and you're good to go. It's WAY faster than having to wait in line to scan your items and then still have to get checked before you leave anyway.
