I have a similar model, bought > 5 years ago. The keys to having them last is:
1. don't run them for long periods of time. Use only short bursts.
2. If lighting a lot, the device will need a cool down period
3. keep the tips clean from carbon and wax buildup

These are absolute junk. I've tried three different ones and they last maybe a few months then stopped working. Went back to butane torches.

I've had similar one. If it gets too much sod on it, it won't lit anything.
