Agreed.

Any tricks to make this cheaper? Like can we get Steam cards at 10% off anywhere and use them for this?

… it's a $300 handheld that needs to balance resolution, refresh rate, and battery life. Not a $2K desktop for you to run Fortnite at 300 FPS.

Show me the S21 running the new God of War, or Last of Us, or Cyberpunk 2077 like the Steam Deck can.

The kind of games this is going to be best for are probably not going to need that much space, but I guess it depends on the person. I have 512gb version and I have around 30 games from steam installed with tons more old games. Of course, if you want to jam pack it with games you'll never actually play then yeah, 1TB is the way to go
Depends. I had no issue playing FFVIIR, Switch emu, Arkham Knight and other non indie games. I've found performance to be really great on a custom W11 build. Boot time is way faster.

Would love an OLED discount. There's no reason to get the LCD version at this point
I've had SD since launch, not interested in the OLED. Same specs as 2yrs ago for the most part. No worries of burn in with LCD long term.

If you're a spec sheet gamer the steam deck is not for you.

As for me, I'm a minimum friction to gaming gamer, making the steam deck perfect for me. Wait till the fam and wife go to bed, grab my deck and go to town.

No reason... except for the giant price difference? $200+ more for OLED. Obviously they're trying to make the LCD version more appealing by putting it on sale.
But it is not that the screen is OLED. Let's not stay just in the surface of things. I am waiting for a discount to the OLED, for the many reasons they improved, one of them very important to me, the battery life. And that is just one of the improvement.

You realized that you are talking about a "GameStop refurbished" unit VS a "New from Steam Store". We are not talking about the same here.

It's like using an old outdated monitor from the early 2000's for the display. I once used a normal non-gaming monitor with 60 hz for gaming with my NVIDiA video card but there was constant screen tearing. I soon stopped because it was not enjoyable despite the good display and graphics. The 60 hz ruined the gaming experience.
Sounds like you don't know what screen tearing is. Otherwise, you wouldn't be using it as a strawman argument.

Screen tearing occurs when the frame rate doesn't match the refresh rate.

VSync solves this issue, which is why every game includes it, yet I'm guessing whatever misinformed YouTube channels you watch told you to never turn this setting on.

imo not worth it. you cant play most popular games like destiny, cod on this. theres a reason these are always at fire sale prices but dont sell out.

they are too big and bulky to be anyones real definition of portable either. i dont see who this is for. the guy who wants to play (some, non demanding) single player games non-portably with 1 hr battery life, while being locked into only steam? for emulation maybe i guess, but there are much much better and cheaper Chinese retro handhelds for that.

until steam stops locking out competition for greed, which is doubtful ever, this is a no.
Lol at all of this.

Do you mean G-Sync which is not available on all monitors?

From ASUS:

"Turn on V-SYNC (or Vertical-SYNC) could eliminate tearing, but causes increased lag and stutter. The G-SYNC technology could eliminate above symptoms. NVIDIA G-SYNC is a function that can eliminate screen tearing and minimize the display stutter and input lag."

You should really stop humiliating yourself. Good night.
