My justification for avoiding these has always been that its healthy for me to get up from my desk, take a break and reheat or refill my coffee. I'm still tempted though when I see these.

If anyone else, like me, doesn't care about the 60 minutes vs 90 minutes, amazon has refurb for under $40 with automatic coupon for og 14oz. Worth the extra $4 since it sold out at woot.

I do not recommend their products because their warranty is only 1-year, and the rechargeable battery degrades over time with use. Eventually, your mug will not work whenever it is off the charging coaster which is the case for my travel mug v1. It works only when it is on the coaster but it immediately turns off when I lift it off. I looked into replacing the battery myself but it is not easy finding the part. Also taking it apart for battery replacement does not appear to be easy for me. I am past the 1-year mark and Ember's solution is offering me the travel mug v2 (mug only with no accessories) for ~$90. I did not accept their solution because what if this new mug also has the same issue after 1-year? I liked the idea because I am a slow coffee drinker, but execution and longevity are terrible.

I bought the 16oz tumbler for Xmas last year and so far it's been great. There are occasional issues with the app where the mug doesn't detect the liquid, and the charging coaster pins got stuck so I bought a spare coaster. Definitely wouldn't go smaller than 14oz. Dunno if I'd buy a used coffee mug though, that's kinda gross.

The bases fail very often. I've gone through 6 of them in about 4 years. At least ember is good about replacing them for free!
yeah, the pins get stuck in the "down" position. I just used a small tweezers to pull it up and bend the pin slightly, keeping it stuck in the "up" position. Problem solved,

Cold coffee brings out the flavor of the ketchup on the extra well done filet mignon.

EDIT: Hook em'!

Why OP's mug is a better alternative to a Zojirushi Stainless Steel mug that will/is:
1. Electronic-free mug (no need to re-charge, have it tethered constantly to a hot plate to keep it hot/warm and battery is non-replaceable)
2. Larger (16oz vs 14oz)
3. New (vs woot reconditioned (YIKES!! Stay away!!))
4. Cheaper (at least 1/2 the cost even vs a reconditioned item)
5. More portable (compatible with cup holders and is leak-proof)
6. More ergonomic
7. More durable (made of stainless steel)
8. More utility (works to maintain hot and cold beverages)
9. Keeps beverages hotter longer (rated 6 hours @ 157F vs. 80 minute battery)
10. Better warranty (5 years vs. no warranty (or 30 days if you get it new)

I'm honestly interested to read why you consider a Woot reconditioned, battery powered Ember mug a better alternative to a brand new Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug?
I have a zojirushi, it's no match for an Ember for keeping your coffee hot.

Woot had Amazon deliver my gray 14 oz mug 2 just now... With a "used - like new" item inventory sticker, X0047KN93F.

Anyone else get theirs yet?

Same experience. I'm debating on sending 2/3 "used like new" back. One of three was "reconditioned" as promised and was clearly different, coming in a sealed package.

So buy the 3 tear extended warranty for $7.99. Even if Ember doesn't want to replace it you can at least submit the warranty claim and get your money back.

Received my two 14-oz mugs, one black and one gray. Gray one looks fine but the black one came without a charging cable, the box was open and not put together, the mug had scratches, smudges, dirt, and oil all over it. No one "factory reconditioned" this. It doesn't look as though there was any kind of inspection process.
