Non-owners always have a LOT to say about these – and believe me, I get it, I swore up and down I never wanted or needed one of these things. I got one as a gift two years ago and I would unequivocally say I would buy myself one now and have given a few as gifts. They just WORK and are perfect for a slow coffee drinker, like myself. For the record, I only opened the app once, I don't need to futz with temps after one setting.

My main tip, though: do not waste your time/money/coffee on anything less than the 14 ounce, the 10 ounce is just TOO little.

In my experience the warranty isn't the best. Have the Mug2 and lid broke when I pressed it in after a few months. Had to practically beg for them to do a one time exception and send me a replacement after sending pictures and videos of broken lid. Still had receipt and within 1 year of ownership.

The Gen 2 has a button on the bottom, you hold it down and it turns off.
Pro tip for my ember fam, buy a small pack of rubber coated baby spoons to stir your coffee.
Never use a regular spoon as it will chip the coating.

I got this one earlier in the year when it was 60 refurbished. I only drink tea from it but 10oz seems fine though for what I paid I could have got a 14 oz now. I usually don't turn the cup on until my tea starts to cool down too much.

Couldn't have said it better myself, got one gifted and it just works. Wink

Got my 14 oz Smart Mug 2 a couple days ago.
Downsides: Battery life is 80% and the app does not play well with new android phones.
The 80% is less than idea but my use case will have it sitting on it's charger 90% of the time anyway so it's not going to effect me. I resolved the app issue by using my old phone to install the app. I was able to update the firmware with no issues on my old phone. I will also not be using the app with any regularity. I set my temp to 'coffee' which I think was 134 degrees and it's about perfect for me.
One other thing I noticed with this mug is that when I pour milk into my coffee or tea, it goes right to the bottom. Most of my other coffee mugs will 'mix' when I pour in the milk. I have to actually stir my drink in this mug since it has no lid to slosh it around to mix.
I got busy with a project this morning and didn't touch my morning tea for almost 2 hours and it was still the perfect temp. Absolutely worth the reduced price IMO.
Just an fyi my yeti lids squeeze into my 14oz ember mug which help keep it hotter a little longer

I got one of these as a gift. It's ok but my biggest issue is that it holds a tiny amount of coffee. I'm not sure which size I have but it's about the size of a regular mug, but the inside is much smaller than a normal mug. So it's kinda pointless as it's such a small amount I drink it before it can get cold anyways. I recommend getting the largest one they have.

Also after about 2-3 years having issues with the metal contacts at the bottom starting to wear off making it hard to charge. Have to put it on the dock just right.

Yep, just tested and it went on just fine. A little harder to get off than on.

Ember does sell official lids, $15 on amazon if anyone is interested.

Just tested my mug. At a temperature of 140, it lasts about 50 mins.

Eh not bad for $35. I'll keep it.

My wife got me one of these for Christmas. Perfect example of an over-engineered paper weight. You can't use it without the app, and I simply could not get the app to work. Returned it and got a NextMug instead. No app, just buttons on the mug. It's great!

You didn't realize it only heats for 80 minutes....not 8 hours? Definitely wasn't a bright idea.
Well bright idea sort of worked. I put the hot coffee in the mug when I went to bed with it set at 145F. When I got up the mug was off, but the temp was still 92F, which was good since if it read as empty I would of had to pour if out and heat it the microwave. So I turned it on and by the time I had done all the things I do when I get up it was back up to 145F. So I sat down at the computer and drank my hot coffee.

I purchased the 10oz mug. The battery life is terrible. When the temperature is set to 145 °F, the battery depletes by 1% every minute while connected to the coaster charger.

Nice. Makes me wonder if a timer wouldn't work for you. When the timer turns the power on it should sense the liquid and start heating. Put a lid on it to speed up the process and keep things out of the coffee while it sits idle

It works without the app with the default temperature of 135F. That's good enough for me.

It lasts 50 minutes with charger or without?

Yeah, I guess I could give it a try with a smart plug. I have the 16oz tumbler, so it comes with a tight fitting lid.

How long does it take to get from room temp water to the max 145F?
I was testing an Ember 16-Oz Smart Tumbler Mug that i got today and it took about 45m to an hour at least to get it up to 145F. I thought it would be more like an electric tea kettle and be more immediate heat.
I guess I'll use an electric kettle anyway to heat the water quick for tea (some teas require higher temps than 145F to steep in), then pour into the Travel Mug to maintain the lower 145F temp after 15min when it cools down (then put the lid on and take it on the go if needed).
