No, your thinking is wrong with Amazon Smilie. I used to think the same way but then I realized that when using my Amazon card they don't let me have any no rush digital credits. Whereas if I use non Amazon card then I do get qualified for that. So I rather choose the discover card and get the digital credits. I used to get many but then they switched it to just having 6% which is worthless when you got small orders.

Thanks for this tip. I had no idea about this; I had always been redeeming the Amazon CC points towards other Amazon purchases, but I didn't like doing so, as those purchases (using points) missed out on getting additional cash back. Would always rather convert the points directly to actual Cash back.
deal with your points on the bank's website (not at amazon.com) and you'll see all your options

probably select cardholders because i'm sure there are active current discover cardholders who are either barred or disqualified or for whatever reason cannot activate the quarterly deal. maybe their account is in serious delinquency or they have abused the program. "select" is a poor choice but it certainly isn't "everybody." too many people have the debit card and don't know the difference and think just because "serve" has/had amex offers so should discover debit.

I've done that the last few years and ended up banking over $1,000 at one point. Last year I didn't buy any since I maxed out the discover card 5% limit.

It has a great deal to stack the discover card 5% back with the 10% gift cards at target.

If I need to stock up a few Amazon gift cards, and purchase them thru Amazon website - 1) will I earn 5% if buy gCards with Discover, and 2) Can I later on add the balance of those gCards to the same (my) Amazon account?
TIA

I already have Amazon Prime card and Target card but I also don't have a Discover card. So for me if I get one then I get double rewards making it 10% first year! Should I get a Discover it card?

I spend a LOT on Amazon. I have the Amazon card (and also Discover). Now, Discover offers Amazon GCs for 5% off when you redeem your points. Does it make more sense to use the Amazon card or activate and use the Discover card?
If they are both 5% then Discover could be better because there are GCs that give up to 20% when using points. The GCs from Amazon Chase do not give that extra bonus.

That makes no sense. 6% is 6%.

Order something for $5. $5*.06 = $.30. If you order this with Amazon card, you get $.30 cashback. Order it with Discover and you will get $1 digital credit. You can decide what's more important but I'd want digital credit in this case. Situation is even more favorable for using Discover card when that $5 order contains multiple items as then you're sometimes offered $2 credit when there are two or more items in the order.

The fees for the Visa/MC debit/gift cards negate most of your savings

Does anyone buy diapers with the gift card and discover discount stacking up? Is it cheaper than Costco sale price if you are getting the diaper deals in target?
